Seems every news headline has something to do with Corona Virus. There must be some news that's equally or more important that is being missed. What have you found?

The share market collapse will probably cause a lot more damage especially if it keeps going as it is for a few months.

I don’t think so just yet. Adversity often unites people. Do be surprised to see some very good things come out of this. When people cooperate for mutual benefit a lot can be achieved.

I found this one: Russian parliament passes bill that allows Putin to rule until 2036

Except they don't. They fight over toilet paper FFS! "Oh, my toilet paper is running low, I'm facing such adversity".

There is a few generations that don't know the meaning of the word adversity and resilience is a product of adversity so they don't have any of that either.

I think this stimulus package is simply smoke screen to allow the govt to give themselves a pat on the back come the June quarter when they technically avoided a recession because of the false GDP figures caused by the input of money into the economy.
I can can see it now. "We are so good we avoided a recession in such a bad economic environment …"

Sammysilver can probably talk to this better than I but people do go through phases to reach a point of resolution of their feelings. Right now people are scared and angry. We are seeing that around the TP situation. We all need to get to acceptance before we can really cooperate. People aren’t for the most part inherently bad. They are just doing the best they can with what they know. Sometimes that is far from perfect. But this situation will force people through a process they really don’t want to face. Some with suffer and not recover but others will grow and come to a new understanding.
    I am hopeful for people.

The June quarter is the one the government wants the GPD figures to be good so they don't have successive quarters of negative growth that technically means recession

Well if you don't go through the scared angry phase you have a head start on those wasting their time in that phase

Haven't heard a thing about climate change lately.
With the oil price crashing it makes it harder renewables to compete against cheap fuel.

I was in the supermarket today (note to self - avoid Fridays!) and the rice, flour and baking aisle was empty shelves. I live in a very ethnically diverse neighbourhood with folks who know all about famine and shortages. Looks like a warning to me.

The entire american economy is tanking and all they talk about is the virus.
Next thing you know they will be blaming the rampant socialism and failed keynsian policies of america on the virus too!
The virus didnt squander our wealth.
