1 What constitutes a Vintage Bar. 2 What year Would they start . 3 Is it the same year for all Bars. 4 Feel free to ask your own questions too I am very interested in your thoughts.
5 Does 'vintage' only include bars that were 'hand poured' ? 6 For certain brands, can you tell the year a bar was poured from its serial number? Thanks for starting the thread Alexisio
I think it's safe to label a 15 - 30 years old bar as vintage. I would even label these Lihir cast bars as vintage as they are pretty much a one off issue about 5 - 7 years ago Now they are rare as hen's teeth and I am sorry I sold them
i would consider classified bars as vintage if they fall into these catogories: - the mint ceased operation...as early as '90s - you can't buy them as much as you want from the dealer now - they don't use the technique anymore (ie Perth Mint handpour) - when people willing to pay a bit of premium on it so any JM bars is vintage, except the licensed 1oz bar that are currently still produced. I guess this will be a hotly debate topic, like how we define numinastic.
Ignore this savage. He clearly doesn't know what he's talking about Like aurora said, they're about the same as what qualifies as a vintage car. Similar to cars, "antique" would probably be anything pre-1920's unless mass produced and still lots available (eg Morgan dollars) in which case they're probably junk.
Geomin silver bars ? They seem really hard to come by. And the kilos look amazing. Wish I had one of them!
Some bars have it stamped on them? 1980s? Others you probably have to take reference from similar bars with similar hallmarks.
Not quite, I have sourced a lot of nice stuff however most of it has been re-homed to new owners. I managed to buy these 30 year old Harringtons a few months ago; one was snapped up immediately. Not letting the other one go
