    Hi forum!

Ive recently upgraded my SS membership, but sometimes when im lurking the forums my mind wanders over to the left of the site especially when its a reply from a banned member.
In my mind i can only imagine what they get banned for but...
What are the main or most common reasons people get banned from SS for?
I ask this question as I dont want to risk getting banned as ive recently upgraded and would one day like to be come a role model citizen here lol :)

    Thanks again,

    Easy

For being dickheads and creating excessive angst. ;)

By the way, by asking the type of question you have, you will never be a role model.; A suck-ar$e yes, a role-model no. :p

Language is essential for communication, especially in an online relationship. If by "language" you mean "filthy language", then cultured use of expletives is tolerated. Try typing this in to the computer and see what happens.

Two bad words EC, one begins with "f" and the other with "c". And the first is not "fiat".

To answer your question a bit more directly, when you see a "banned" account, I'm guessing the main reason is that they tried to post advertising links (i.e. spam), were running shill accounts or trying to undertake fraudulent trading activity. Spam is probably the most common.

As you'll have seen, the site administrators are quite liberal (which is one of the great things about this site) but as in the "normal" rules of free speech one crosses the line when one uses threatening and/or abusive language. Robust disagreement is obviously fine as you have probably seen but be careful not to cross the line. Hence, people can be banned for posting racist, threatening, flaming etc messages. Many times people will be given warnings etc behind the scenes through Private Messages and the threads cleaned up etc, but if people don't stop they are typically suspended with banning reserved for really bad or recurrent bad behaviour.

Because admin don't necessarily read every single post, bad behaviour may go under the radar for a while until reported by another member.

The other area that occasionally gets "tested" - either by accident or deliberately - are people who go on to religious and/or strong pro-gun topics (with the latter because the the site and many members are Australian with potential consequences from Australian authorities rather than being against the beliefs etc of admin). Again, unusual (or perhaps never) for someone to be banned for straying into this area, rather they'll receive a gentle nudge not to do it (ie thread will simply be locked or deleted).

Remember though, I'm not admin so this is all simply personal opinion/observation.

Thanks bordsilver for that great response.

So basically its common-sense with those banned are lacking or require education in the civilized skillset. It is a laugh to read banned members posts and their discourse just before they get kicked off though (says me with too much time on my hands).

I think there is only like 5 things that you can get banned from doing here.

#1 Talking about guns in the wrong context
#2 Using people's real names on public threads
#3 Out bidding me on an auction thread
#4 Not talking like a pirate on the midnight to 6am thread
#5 Offering to buy stuff under spot because it's second hand bullion

I have no idea, I'm just cracking wise. PM GP and he should be able tell you, or maybe it's a private matter in which case don't worry about it

I forgot this one, thanks. Please respect "anonymity" (including private messages) as much as possible/reasonable.
