I hear that this bullion coin will in fact be a series, each year a releases, is this correct? And if so, will the design be the same each year?
Hmm this is very conflicting info on the mintage, and exclusivity. ArgentAgent47 is based in the US, so if he got an allocation, then it's not exclusive to govmint. Someone is bound to be wrong between these two posts.
He might of got those 250 direct from govmint? I do not know, but I saw him post a comment on YT that he got 250 and that the mintage is 300,000.
This is my understanding. Was not made available to other Australian distributors. The bullion sample I saw was in a capsule. It is in a different layout/font style to the Kookaburra/Koala coins. Looked good.
Disappointed, I received the e-mail, then ordered and paid for it as you can see, even now on their website it says "In Stock" Until you pay for it and then it comes up as "Back-ordered" This is mis-leading as far as I am concerned, I am not their banker and didn't agree to "loan" them my money I see a product that is for sale and in stock, and still being advertised as in stock, I expect it to ship So if you plan on buying one, be warned of this practice http://www.govmint.com/2014-australia-1-oz-wedge-tailed-silver-eagle-pcgs-ms70.html see images then after clicking, buying, and paying this comes up
From the govtmint Highlights Year Issue: 2014 Country Origin: Australia Composition Type: Silver Denomination: 1.00 Grade Type: BU Condition Type: Uncirculated Purity: 0.9990 Coin Weight: 31.1 Grams - g Mint Name: Perth Mint Dimensions: 40.6 MM Currency Type: Dollar Mintage: Unlimited
From the govmint website "Mintage: Unlimited" Can anyone confirm if this is correct, or if an error on their website?
I've never buy slapped coins before so what does gem mean? Since it is the cheapest of the three, I am only assume it's the worse. Which one are u folks buying? The $99 one seem a bit excessive for a bullion coin. Granted there's an autograph.
"GEM" means that PCGS did not assign a grade to it. In this case, any GEMs you see means it did not get MS69 or MS70. Seeing how these are from Perth, quality of GEM should still be pretty good. I'd wager that they're better than the croc bullion coins (on average).
I think you can request the GEM grade to be assigned instead of MS68 or lower if it doesn't make 69/70. That way you don't get back a whole bunch of 66/67/68 graded coins that no-one wants to buy. Basically an "a collectible example of this issue" grade.
You can always crack it open and put it in a capsule, but then you'd lose PCGS slab and the Mercanti signature. I believed he hand-signed all of the labels rather than just a mass printed signature.
There are pictures of him actually signing the labels, pretty small signature! I don't want to pay $30 for a slabbed "GEM" only to bust it open. If there really are 50K of these, even Govmint could not have gotten them all slabbed. Could they? Need a source for buying these by the tube.
I have heard that the 50,000 mintage that Perth Mint are publicly stating is in fact the mintage allocated to govmint, and that Perth Mint have the right to produce up to another 250,000 for themselves. If true, then this is very deceptive of them, they should be honest from the beginning. Though I would welcome an additional 250,000 so that I can buy an ungraded version.
