I live in a semi rural area and often go driving in my cheap to run LPG car to get out of the house and have a think about things..... After being unemployed for a few months I've experienced how bad it is to be on Centrelink payments which Labor screwed down hard when they got in.... I should be getting a response about a new job tmrw so I will be happy to be employed again but it seems to me everyone is doing it really hard at the moment.... Everyones living on credit cards and borrowing money off family to pay bills, electricity has gone thru the roof, petrol hit $1.65 the other week.... And as far as I can tell Labor are screwing the economy sideways..... If they get in again I don't know what we will all do we will definitely be in a recession by end of year?

If Labor get in again tens of thousands of businesses will be looking at an exit strategy.

Liberal will be very good for corpserations and gobblethem-up globalism. Rudd sought to bring a tax on Australian owned resources, tax the money supply(deposits) as if the banks own that, and tax profit on high end homes (which was the real reason why I think he was knifed and miners took the heat). Ordinary people ie 70% of people would be better off under labour with Rudd. Liberal will be VERY bad for under 35's, but good for corporate tricky structuring. Youth are hurt the most in recessions, just look at Europe. The greedy old geezers love the free ride liberal gives them with the tax structures and the like.

But I like the informal vote.

Whilst the Liberals may well steal from the population, I know that Labor has certainly been doing for several years now.

The real question is, is it possible for the Liberals to steal more from the population than Labor has?

I can think of one Labor MP that reportedly steals from union workers funds and gives the money to escort agencies. I can think of several Labor politicians in front of ICAC for stealing from the people of NSW. I can think of an ex Labor Prime Minister who is still under investigation by a task force of 9 detectives for her part in stealing workers funds from a union to assist someone to buy a house. I can think of a guy that set up a recording studio for his son using a union building and who reportedly paid his wife's company for services not rendered with union workers funds.

Simple slogans are for simple people who avoid reality in case it conflicts with their own biases.

Thers already PLENTY of business buildings closed around Melbourne with 'For Lease' signs out the front.....BIG corporate style buildings too..... I don't know whats going on but somethings not right.

Everyone I speak to says times are getting tough and no ones spending money and business is getting tight etc etc.

For the first time in my life I'm really trying to understand the politics and who to vote for and why..... Its been difficult to learn but it's really looking like Labor are just to top heavy and they spend money on stupid things we don't really need....Mind you, I thought the mining tax was a good thing, those mines make way too much money!

I'll just pull you up there. The mining tax is a tax on a resource that has already had revenue reach government, that government being the collective State governments. Mineral resources are owned by the people through the States, Constitutionally, there is no jurisdiction for the Feds to levy the mining tax on a State resource. The revenue reaching government already is called Royalties, and the amounts paid are considerable. Furthermore, the mining tax recognises this by giving a reduction to the mining tax payable to the same amount already paid in a given year in royalties. The mining tax is a power grab by Federal Labor on the States. Furthermore the debate leads people to think there is no tax on BHP...they pay billions in tax on their revenues already.

I'm an ordinary person and I'm worse off under Rudd. I am the 53%.

Edit: Just looked at the BHP 2013 preliminary annual report presentation. Effective tax rate: 39.3%!

    Tax: $11billion+
    After tax profit: $10.9billion
    http://www.bhpbilliton.com/home/inv...illitonPreliminaryResultsFY13Presentation.pdf

Given they spent hundreds of billions on staff (taxpayers paying income tax), services (GST payable), land and vehicles (stamp duties payable), I think they are taxed enough.
