The only difference between Labor and Liberal is the manner of incompetence and betrayal they offer to the long-suffering electorate. As Donald Horne wrote when he first coined the derogatory term "Lucky Country": Australia is a lucky country, run by second-rate people who share its luck. Every four years I'm given the choice of whether I want a kick in the balls or a kick up the arse. My eyes water either way.
The Eureka Stockade is considered a defining moment in Australia's national identity. Now miners sticking up for their right to profit off their claim is considered un-Australian. What a world we live in.
The big difference between Labor and Liberal is very important- The Libs serve political self interest and big business, but they also appreciate the role of small business in the economy. Labor serve the ultimate self-interest group - the unions, along with big business. Because of their ownership by the unions Labor despise non-union small business and want them under a boot heel. For me that is why, despite both parties being completely self-serving, Labor is a far, far more destructive choice.
