Did anyone else hear the woman on talk-back radio who had rung the ABS for a paper form? When she gave the number on the " to the householder" letter, they were able to quote back her name and address for confirmation.

I have doubts about the name, but remember that every PIN number was sent to a specific address so the fact that it could be quoted back by the automated system doesn't surprise me.

ok, so i've just had the census door knocker call in for the second time. they acknowledged that i wasn't keen on doing it but on que she mentioned the fines and said it had to be in by the 9th sept.

    true or bluff?

when does it have to be in by?

anyone not put their name and address on it and heard back from the ABS?

I've been trying to follow the debate on the Whirlpool forums but about the only definite thing I can determine is that, if you can, avoid the door knockers at all costs and never give them your name. At some point you may get a more official notice directed to you, and at that point you need to complete the census or face a fine. (Also, giving wrong answers is apparently worse than not giving an answer or not returning the form... maybe.)

Did they have any identification number that you could confirm?

Either she's uninformed, lying or not a census worker.

The answer seems to be: 18 September for the paper form and 23 September for online completion.

I also saw: "The Census form will still go offline on September 23 and paper forms are due back September 18. Although people who complete the Census late will not be fined."

it has been the same lady every time. i did see her ID tag the first time but haven't taken details of it.

been planning to omit name and address but fill out the rest but with believable porkies on sensitive questions.

i thought it was around the 23rd but wasn't 100% sure. didn't want to argue with her since my quarrel isn't with her.

also i will be sending the form back in a normal envelope registered with conformation of receipt. there's no way it's going in the post system in an envelope that's readily identifiable as a data honeypot.

Wow, and now census collectors are using their own iOS (and Android) devices to help with data collection.

great, so i will have been black flagged by the census collector on the phone she had in her hand as 'this guy doesn't want to do it and will probably give dodgy data' or whatever else her opinion was.

I heard the census ad on the radio in the morning the other day and the last line was "your data is safe". by the afternoon in the same ad that line was gone. I heard the ad the next day again but there was no "your data is safe" line.seems like it disappeared forever...

and I liked this line:"you wont be fine" .....
