Haven't found a thread on this VW emissions coverup thingie. Sounds to me like this is a perfect example of a Black Swan event.
It's all over the news here in Canada. Hope they start criminal proceedings cos it seems to me like they were fully aware of what they were doing.
It's cause I've been actively covering it up by deleting any threads (Sarcasm Smiley). Come on EPA come sue my ass.
I believe their stock is now down by at least 30% since the news broke out. If you have money to spare, seems like a good punt if ever they manage to survive this scandal.
so its VW that's responsible for climate change now, finally some breathing space to do that back yard burn off
Actually, yeah, the UK is calculating that the amount of extra NOx emissions from VWs would could be as much as all their power stations, heavy industry and agriculture combined. Basically, whatever they thought they were emitting, they need to double it thanks to dodgy VWs. NOx actually has a cooling effect on the atmosphere, but it also creates smog, acid rain and screws up your lungs pretty badly.
I'd go with dementia. Getting to go shopping wearing nothing but your bathrobe and tighty-whities and meeting new people everyday.
How about the permanent migraine that results from your brain slowly atrophying? Seen this up close. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/09/23/hail-vw-heroic-resistants-green-tyranny/ "VW was bullied and hounded into paying lip service to Gaia as a result of a sustained campaign by Greenpeace, including this nauseating commercial where little kids dressed as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader (I hope George Lucas sued the bastards for copyright) were shown battling an evil VW with their lightsabers. (Greenpeace likes few things better than exploiting and indoctrinating kids, by the way. "Give me a child until he is seven") And the reason for this is that, unlike most of its craven, corporatist sell-out competitors, VW was brave enough to try to fight against the technologically unfeasible, economically untenable emissions targets being imposed on it by the green commissars of the European Union. "The 95 g/km Long-Term-Target for 2020 is the result of a political decision taken last year. It is not based on sound impact assessment nor on a realistic appreciation of the costs and technical progress necessary to meet the goal within the timescale" Volkswagen 2010 VW, in other words, was making a stand for its consumers and just as importantly its shareholders against a bunch of unelected ideologues who don't give a stuff for free markets or the bottom line."
