I get torn between "Trump and his administration team are a bunch of fkn tosswads" and "Trump and his administration are putting in place an effective economic strategy".

Maybe because aside from the economics team he has most of the other high profile Secretaries and Staff he has appointed are just gobsmackingly incompetent. But I can see what he and Bessent are trying to do.

It's just that Trump's delivery and messaging around the topic leave much to be desired. Although again that could be part of the strategy ie Trump yo-yoing all over the place like a mad man's shit in order to create uncertainty and alarm, with Bessent remaining calm and collected, keeping his mouth shut when required and only opening it to confirm policy direction that he considers wise and measured.

Time will tell, but I think the plan will work - which is annoying as I can't stand Trump. :p

    I’m not so sure Shiney.
There’s hints that he’ll offering a $5k baby bonus. What will these future generations do other than consume. Trump wants manufacturing back in the USA, jobs jobs jobs for robots?
One thing I am leaning towards is the US will remain the western reserve currency….we all will be enjoying a western universal income which won’t buy you much.
By the way, Trump is only running the show on a surface level.

I was a union worker back in the 90s when NAFTA was being pushed through and we talked about the off shoring of all our manufacturing and how bad of an idea it was.
They even told us back then that once these jobs move away they will never come back.

Once they are gone they are gone for good unfortunately.
Trump can't do anything to make it great again and the damage is done.

Here is Reagan, a hard line republican and his views on tariffs . Not sure what history Trump reads, old McDonalds menus maybe.
