Interesting synopsis from Dore I just came across,

Saddam was bad... US press said so... USA invaded Iraq... Iraq has lots of oil
Gaddafi was bad... US press said so... USA bombed Libya.. Libya does have some oil
Bashar is bad... US press said so... USA invaded Syria... Syria has lots of Oil

US press is now saying 24/7 how bad Maduro is, Venezuela has oil.... will Trump invade, War would be good for ratings, help out waning arms manufacturers and a boom for big oil.

Iran and North Korea gets a pass as it would result in too high a US military casualty.

Don’t really belive it will happen and likely just a unfortunate coincidence but considering....

France had 14 weeks of yellow shirt protest and police are gassing Parisans in the street,
Thailand had months and months of protest leading to Coup d'état
    Burma is committing genocide

And no overt threat from USA, is it that they have no oil?

I do hope DJT leaves the army at home and applies diplomatic pressure directly and via the UN for what it's worth...The US should steer well clear of this one. Now on the other hand, if HRC was in the big chair and she hadn't already found a way to get the USA at war with either Russia or North Korea, then Id say the USA was a walk up start to so something in Venezuela.

US invading Venezuela would basically be US only intervention.
Not sure who will join US in the current climate, can’t see other support players like UK and Germany joining Trump.

USA doesn’t have a representation in UN anymore do they?

I wouldn't take anything that Trump says at face value. Quite often is the opposite. He will use social media to build up the tension to make Madura's generals defect. Why fight when it will dissolve from within in a matter of time? Anyway, if I'm Madura's general, I will defect as Madura has 101% chance of losing power within the next 3 years.

Even China is not going to support Madura as they can work with whoever takes power. Only Russia is desperate to keep Madura in power now.

Why fight because of Trump 2020, Ratings and Military spending.

War is great for ratings and boosting military industry.

The board of Raytheon and Lockheed would be having orgasms at the thought of popping $2 million smart bombs not to mention Halliburton creaming their pants

Trump ran his campaign in part on getting the US out of wars in other countries. He has worked to fulfill that promise. Unlike Obama and both Bush presidents who seemed to like wars (even if only involved behind the scenes) in my opinion.

Trump's base would not support a war unless it appeared to be based on a real threat and not BS, like the supposed weapons in Iraq, etc.

And you see how much his base likes that the wall is being held up. The right wing pundits like Coulter are shredding him. He will get the wall built, at least in some places. It is not easy to accomplish things when the entire democrat party, most of the media, and some RINOs are against you. But he keeps on fighting. The polls show he is doing well in popularity.

Yes Venezuela is red but invade,I cannot see it.

POTUS has a full plate and going pretty good considering the headwinds which won't ease, does he want any more keeping him awake at night.

I know plenty of people think he is literally mad but not that mad.

But could I be wrong, time will tell.

With Trump, anything could happen. Trump could strike a deal with the devil to achieve his goals. Imagine him talking and smiling to Kim face to face who just slaughtered his brother and whatever left of his family that didn't managed to flee. He will have no problems striking a deal with Venezuela's generals and power behind the throne just to bring down Madura.

nobody really consider what will happen if the 5,000 invading soldiers got all killed inside Venezuela, just like what happened with the 10,000 soldiers killed in Ukraine

So funny on this site. US is about to either invade the world and nobody is happy. Then we have posters like this that seem mad Trump is trying to settle things with a dictator by means of negotiation. I guess SG would rather we invade NK? What the f*ck do you folks want?

US can not afford to have too many soldiers killed
when the bases are everywhere, nowadays missiles can fly the world many times over
    bases are becoming targets

so there is no invasion in Venezuela, since the army there are protecting their sovereignty
Maduro is still the president, the military are in support of their president
where Guaido is not restricted in anyway...
so the regime or socialist practice or ideas is not the reality
people are still free in Venezuela despite under US sanctions

this performance of regime change idea is even worst than the one orchestrated in Turkey

Turkey is a big show. Trump and Erdogan are actually friends.

The situation now is very unique. Due to the rise of strongmen throughout the world, the president of the US needs to be like one to deal with these strongmen even though he or she can only be around for only up to 8 years. The next us president after trump will be tricky.

Are there any Venezuelan Silver Stackers out there who can report in?

I keep some cash, food and water handy at all times. How would that help in Venezuela?
