I like them They are quite popular but not so common, which means they are a little more expensive than other 'junk' silver. They are Government issued, so there is some protection from forgery They are 90%, which is a nice high percentage They are easily recognised worldwide They are legal tender so if the price of silver drops, you still have face value, a small consideration They do not require any special care, no capsules, no 2x2 holders, no albums, no climate controlled room etc. they are cheap to keep. They are fractional and in small denominations, so easy to make change! They are popular with preppers and people who think here is going to be a global financial reset, or at least, a collapse of fiat currency. I have a few, but always like more. The large denominations are really nice, the smaller ones are cool as well but more common, I have more dimes than anything else and barely any half dollars or dollars. The 40% clad ones are not so popular, more copper than silver.
Should probably mention though... People who collect silver coins that are not 999 pure are a subset of people who collect silver coins who are a subset of people who stack silver. And people who want to pay that little bit extra for American junk silver rather than paying a bit less for the more common Australian junk silver, are a further subset. People who collect junk silver coins generally do so because it is the cheapest form of silver you can find. They often aren't that fussy about what form the silver comes in. These same people might not be interested in paying extra for some slightly different junk silver coins. However 50% silver coins waste a lot of space, and 92.5% coins usually some with a bit of a premium because they stopped making them a while back and they are relatively hard to find, compared to the 50% stuff. 90% is a good level of silver to have, not much wastage. I have seen Australian 50% silver coins sell for spot, even below spot in the good old days. 92.5% coins usually gets a decent price over spot. I have seen US junk silver get some decent premiums over spot for individual coins, like the dollars. The bulk dimes and quarters that are well circulated still go for a decent amount and they don't usually last too long on this website when they are put up for sale. They do pretty well at auctions too, or at least they did in the past when there was a bit more enthusiasm over silver
its better to get some continental as well https://limitedmintage.com/product/...ne-silver-art-medal-antique-finish-6mm-thick/
Just bought a whole bunch of dimes from the US to add to the stack. My first US constitutional silver. Keen to suss them out and see if i should be buying more. Seller:Coinexchange267 on ebay.
The US 90% silver is very liquid here in the USA so when it comes time to sell them you will always find a market for them over here.
Last time I bought some in bulk was when the Australian dollar was worth more than the American dollar. I was buying rolls of them off of eBay in the USA. It was short lived.
Cheers for the info guys... Defo liking US Constitutional Silver... Especially Walking Liberty Halfs & Peace Dollars
No way too slow but living in hope some US Pre 65 90% Come up... Brought some fantastic US coins already thanks to our awesome community. Will keep Sharpe eye out for more
I like the 90% silver. Got some mint rolls of quarters and half dollars stacked away. I appreciate the historical factor of older US (and EU) coins, but i'm moving out of higher premium pieces so i'm selling a lot of my collection. Sold SilverMozzie some of my peace dollars this week actually. I don't know if the SHTF scenario is upcoming or not - but i definitely wouldn't be surprised!
