At first glance, this looked to be one of the most beautiful coins alas, it is (in my opinion) ruined by certain... features. What a shame. I didn't know 50 year old Pam was posing for coin art now http://www.zlate-mince.cz/CRM_2013_Richard_Wagner_Ag.htm
First thing I thought of: [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/1487_jackie-chan-whut.jpg][/imgz]
Is no joke. Is serious business. But srsly; this mint is super hit-and-miss. Some of their stuff is AMAZING while others profoundly questionable, which is being kind. I've been lazily looking for a channel to get these to Australia because some are incredible and I'd like to not have to buy via eBay if I can avoid it. Haven't found any dealers yet that can do this.. *hint hint*
you know...maybe these things are that ugly that they might actually get a good premium later..stranger things have happened and I am definately not one to know what the mainstream will like...judging by the films/tv and music which are popular today..it seems the uglier the better..best of luck!
This coin deserves an award for ugly. The image of Wagner looks like it was done by an "artist" in a mental institution on the dark side of the moon and the image of the woman looks like it was done by an "artist" who was amped up all to hell and back on a combination of methamphetamine and LSD. The characters I wonder the most about are the govt administration yahoos who approved this thing and gave it the green light for production. My guess is that their hatred of Wagner must be vicious.
For example, the coin in my avatar (Momento Mori Palau Proof) was minted by this mint. I have a couple, and they are selling for $4-500+ now I got them off eBay back in 2011 for $115, they were selling from the mint for more like $60, and have been looking for a more direct source from this mint ever since. It's only a matter of time before they produce another cracker, in my opinion. I'll try and make direct contact with them and let y'all know.. stay tooned
Should it be pointed out that these don't seem to be actual coins? No denomination and no country of issue. Seems to me they are only medallions. Any douche with enough money can have a medallion made without needing govt approval
That is what I was going to ask. Are these legal tender coins or medals with no country/face value? Alex.
