Heres a few suggestions on trading to alleviate some confusion on sales threads

1...A buzz = acceptance of the buyers price /conditions & should be considered a sale .Unless another member has private messaged before your buzz..

2...PM sent = an offer has been sent or question asked & is not confirmation of a sale

3... Auctions should be timestamp sensitive & should be adhered to for the sake of all involved .

4... Sellers have sole discretion on who they sell to .

5... Please refrain from commenting in sales threads regarding price .It is up to the buyer to do his due dilligence before buying . If you feel the need to make a comment use the private messaging function to voice your concerns to the potential buyer or seller.

6...Feedback is there for a reason .please use it accordingly .If there is failure to pay or damaged or bad description of goods . Some menbers prefer not to use it for minor discretions & that is personal choice

7... Post sales threads with clear & honest description of goods & your trading terms for the sake of a smooth transaction & less chance of recieving negative feedback .

8... Advertisers try to respond to all messages /enquiries /buzzes within 24 hours to avoid opportunity loss for the potential buyer

9... Enjoy your trading experience with other members & build trading relationships beyond the forum

Admin if you think theres something here that needs to be changed or deleted please do so

Any other suggestions welcomed . But lets keep it simple & not too long so they are easy to follow

Perhaps we also need to have a neutral feedback icon.

its a good practice for seller to update and close the thread after the deal is done

99% of the time it will be .Ultimately the person selling has the choice of who to sell it to

Not to get technical but I will, an advertisement to sell an item is not in fact a binding contract, rather it is know as an 'invatation to treat.' Therefor the seller may refuse to sell the item when an 'offer' to buy is made as the final decission on any sales contrat lies with the acceptance of any offer by the seller. The buyer cannont demand a sale even if they belive they have first rights to the 'invatation to treat'.
(misleading and deceptive conduct on the part of the seller not with standing.) :)

@ anonmiss, if the seller said in the post, "you buzz you buy" or "buzz now to buy" or something similar changing it to an offer at large capable of acceptance by a buzz I'd have taken that as an offer, accepted by the person buzzing.

Not many sales say that, I agree, but it does come up from time to time.

It should go without saying, but the same applies to the buyer (or to people engaged in a swap)

Hence, any party may pull out of a transaction at any time for any reason (or for no reason) up until the point that a valid transfer of property has happened. Consequences may of course apply to either party of the form of, say, negative feedback or "blacklisting" etc.

Good point so it seams that it really is back to the seller to set clear guide lines at the start of the thread. A good lesson for newbees (and old bees alike) to check out sales threads that make sence and are clean and easy to understand verses those that get a million questions trying to clarify details.

I wouldnt know i dont take note of who buys what just follow certain sales threads to keep up on what things are worth not whos buying .

The reality is with any person selling anything whether it be a stamp, bullion or a house is its their property & no one can tell them what they can or cannot do with it .

So is there a commonly agreed meaning to what 'Buzz' means?

My understanding is it means 'sent you a message and, anyone looking on, I beat you to sending a message'. Nothing more.

And typing 'Buzz' in a thread is not necessary before sending the message - nor after sending the message.

I have always understood that a "buzz" means that the buyer is agreeing to buy at the sellers advertised price and his next correspondence will be by PM to sort out the payment details.

It means I beat you to purchasing the item and unless the deal falls through for some reason, the item is off the table. I have seen a "back up buzz" used in such circumstances and have had members PM me to notify me that they would like second option if the first "buzzer" falls through.

I would think it to be quite unethical also if members were PMing sellers with higher offers after a Buzz has been given already.

There is a "Buzz" button. This button should have a firm explanation attached to its usage.

    "Pressing (or typing) buzz means..."

    Lovey80 had it right.
