Here is a website of potential use for Australians wishing to get some indication of value in Australian dollars for faceted Tourmaline in terms of colour, weight, clarity, cut.
    http://www.tourmalineinternational.com
This is an Australian Company (Perth based) who appear to source all their rough gemstone stock from South Africa (continent not country). It would appear that the company then has it's rough cut in Asia (likely Thailand) rather than cutting in Australia as is a common practice. Of note, this company only deals in a narrow range of Gemstone types ie Tourmaline, Aquamarine, Morganite and Tanzanite with the principal focus being on Tourmaline. I have found this useful when comparing my own cut stones with stones this company is cutting in order to have a ball park figure for the potential value of my stones. Beautiful clear photo's and links. Most importantly, pricing is clearly stated along with gemstone weight.

Caveat: I do NOT have any financial interest or stake in this company. I do NOT know of anyone involved in this company. I have NOT bought or traded with this company. I do NOT make any claims as to this company's credibility.

    Tourmaline is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cheap!

Its almost a crime getting tourmaline so cheap.. its got to be an incredible investment in my opinion, also the fancy garnets are dirt cheap..

These guys seem to have hefty mark ups.. i had no idea retail was so incredibly high?

Im gonna keep adding to my my already greedy stack of tourmaline!! YUM YUM

I'm not too sure about that. QUALITY tourmaline rough sells for approx $8-$12 per carat in the rough with a ball park figure for cut stones generally averaging $100 per carat. If there is much deviation from these two prices, then I'd have serious concerns about (1) quality and (2) genuineness.

And before anyone starts saying "ebay this and ebay that", as most informed people are aware, anyone who uses ebay as their price guide has rocks in their head. ESPECIALLY for gemstones and jewellry.

As for fancy cut garnets.......... garnets and tourmaline aren't even in the same ball park in terms of value. Garnet rough can be picked up for about $1 per carat. If some-one were to get tourmaline for that price, it'd likely be as useful (ie useless) as the proverbial in terms of cutting quality facetable stones.

The website link has a heap of pictures on it Errol. And the quality of the photography is fairly good as well. As for my own stones, I'm not going to put myself in a position where one or two of the few w*nkers on this site.......... sorry, wrong terminology......... where one or two of the few "objectionable members" of this forum might use my pictures as an opportunity to troll instead. I'm more that happy to pm you a picture or two though.

    cheers.

Out of curiousity, do these pieces of Rubellite Tourmaline have the same colour across all three axis? or similar to some of the Nigerian Rubellite, is there a yellowish/green colour across the side axis?

    Beautiful colour by the way!!

Man if I had the cash I'd snap up some of these. They all appear excellent quality.
