I used to live close to Fossil Beach VIC, and it was not uncommon to find gastropods at 40-50 mm diameter in the rocks. Split the rock and you have a male/female half with a complete gastropod inside. The cliffs are a muddy shale and typically a 10-15 minute dig with your hands yields quartz. The best time to go is after storms, where new fossil bearing material has been turned over etc. I found so many that I used to just throw them away after a few months. Good fun for children. David Attenborough did one of his TV series at the beach and claimed that it was one of the largest deposits of fossils in the world.
Today I found and ate my first matsutake aka pine mushroom of the season I also found nearly 25 lbs of chantarelles. Ps canadian members in bc will express post gourmet wild mushrooms in exchange for silver gold or cash.
Another week end digging in the dirt with the kids.... they love it. Honestly, it's as easy as child's play. Zircon's on the left, sapphires on the right.
Reminds me of the story of the tradie who found a chocolate cake in a car park and took it to work and shared it round. They all went to hospital - cake was full of hash.
Haha yeah I reckon he probably did. Surely one of the tradies could have tasted the ganja in the cake
just digging around in the garden then, i found a drinking fountain tap... like the kind they have at schools. it has a spring back knob that still works.. pretty excited to have a drinking fountain in my back yard!!!
