i love to see rare coins so i thought i would upload a few for others and keep this tread alive. here is one i got in a bulk lot of copper coins a little while ago
Won my first online auction (other than eBay) for this, the first medallion of ? Been doing a bit of research and although 4 medallions are mentioned in one guide, having been through half a dozen auction archives I have found at least 9 from around 4-5 different manufacturers. Also picked up an original newspaper from 1848 which has an article on the junk's arrival in London. New book on the Keying is coming out in January, should be a good read. Does anyone have a copy of because I wouldn't mind seeing if any of them are mentioned.
I'm getting tempted by this coin, however being hopeless in numismatics are there any suggestions from any more experienced members as to what to look for and what would be the best example I can buy for less than a grand. Also is the foyles bag a must and should the coin be stabbed by Ngc et al.
there are a lot of good centenary florins out there for under 1 k , for a more acurate grading i would look at the bigger coin dealers , the foy and gibson bags are quite hard to find in good condition , and are not a real must but if you can find a good example get it this foy and gibson bag is the rarer one of the two which was from there perth store [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/1123_img_1867.jpg][/imgz] or you could buy this slabbed centenary florin http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Australi...7034712?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item485e2391d8
