    would like to hear thoughts on grade and value
    fyi it has scrap on the rim where the person i bought it off took it to gold buyers for a price and they stone tested it "crys a little"

    can anyone tell me what this coin is?
    it is approx 30mm and 20 grams
    came in a pack with a proof 1 yuan taiwanese coin but is in a sealed case like a kook

    It's a Taiwanese Buddhist coin.

    I think the reverse is: Year 2001, 50 Taiwan Dollars
    I think the obverse is a Buddhist saying along the lines of: Kindness, Mercy, Joy (with spiritual blessings)

    I can't quite make out all the characters. But this is my attempt to put it together:

    Great thread! Normally I only look at the silver and silver coin section. But these coins here are amazing!
    Really enjoy looking at nice coins with a story! Thanks all!

    Most of my collection contains bullion, recently I bought some ancient greek silver.
    These are with the head of Zeus.

    1922/21 Overdate Threepence Australia. :D

    About time I got one of these. Only 800 or so in existence. No pictures of the coin as it is in safe keeping. Write up by S&C here about these coins including pics.

    Other recent acquisitions include another two 1923 half pennies (vf, gvf), 1911 penny (chUnc red), 1906 Melbourne half sovereign (vf+) , 1879 Melbourne sovereign (ef).

    1913 2 shilling graded by NGC VF25
    1911 half penny graded by PCGS MS65BN
    1951P half penny no dot graded by PCGS MS63BN
    1915 penny graded PCGS MS62BN
