and possibly lower if I buy more at a time. I don't have the capital to get them all. I'm going to buy 500 of them tomorrow for $960. thats 19.2 times face. should I get more? maybe 1000 for $1900? trying to practice some risk management meanwhile as well.

According to the Silver Stacker Calculator, 500 dimes would be: $1185 Australian Dollars (About the same in USD) based on 32.77 spot.

As I said, I'd happily buy them all. :(

So CK you reckon these super fractionals are a good buy then ? Like Aus shillings & sixpences etc.

$100 FV of nickels and pennies can be shipped for numismatic purposes... doesn't look like any restrictions on dimes, silver or otherwise!

I was actually planning on taking them to a shop and buying some bullion with them. Or selling them and taking the profits to go buy a bigger pile of dimes from the man.

I actually prefer them to Aus Predecimal. Only because I consider the possibility of travelling OS with them.

It seems an export law was in place for the silver, but was repealed in 1969. I'll have to do some more digging.

Not sure I understand..... Are you onselling these or are these available in these quantities from an ongoing source?

A website for melt values is http://www.coinflation.com/. im assuming you are purchasing mercury or pre 1965 Roosevelt dimes. Each dime contain .0723 Troy ounces. 500 dimes contain 36.17 Troy ounces of silver. Spot at the moment is $32.17. A 10 cent dime silver value is $2.37. The 500 dimes silver value would be $1187.09. So buying for $900 a great deal . I was checking eBay what buyers were paying for these junk dimes. Most were paying at spot.

its just a dude that responded to a craigslist ad of mine. If the deal is good, I'll let everyone know. Of course, to make it worth while to me, I'll have to charge a little more. but I think at this price I can charge less than spot. I feel nervous dealing with that much cash at a time. thats why I'm having him meet me at my work. I feel pretty comfortable there. anyway. I'll post the results.

unfortunately, the guy never showed today. he never called either. bastard. i knew it was to good to be true! I wanted to get my hands on those dimes so bad!

just like last week. a woman said she had a whole mess of silver quarters stashed away and was going to sell them to me at 18 times face value. it turns out that her idiot fiance took them because he needed change for his business! AH!!! I felt terrible for her though. turns out it was about 100 face value!
