how I wish I was at this one and bought these items. I could have retired on the proceeds of re-selling them http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++344+&refno=31044339&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++345+&refno=31044347&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++346+&refno=31044365&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++347+&refno=31044370&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++348+&refno=31044388&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++349+&refno=31044374&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++350+&refno=31044390&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++351+&refno=31044372&saletype=P http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7953+++++352+&refno=31044373&saletype=P who ever sold these coins lost in excess of $1mil thanks to this auction houses incompetence
gotta love the upcoming auction of collection gold and silver plated coins and bars...someone going to get hurt...bad...
where do you start, the 1924 proof set would be worth a cool $250k by itself sale price $1700 that's like paying $10 an ounce for gold
That is just too crazy and someone is sitting back wondering how the hell they got a deal like that. In saying that they may not even realize what they have either and the circle may continue.
The really bad thing is I saw this action and thought to myself... I wonder what they are worth... And then walked away.... I am always looking at actions online... It is my hobby. But I am not into coins!!! Maybe I need to brush up. Shiny
You lost out on an easy million dollar profit and you're still thinking that 'maybe' you need to brush up? This...is...madness!
What to get that hard to buy for stacker who has everything else: http://www.lawsons.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=7986A+++1698+&refno=31092827&saletype=P
If these coins went for a a small fraction of their value and people find out, don't the auctioneers come away looking really bad for not having put a high reserve on them and having provided better value estimates?
Seems like an inside job, provide a tiny estimate and understate quality, neglect to mention them being proof / gem unc.. phone a friend, lock the auction doors, disconnect the internet .. split the profits.. little old lady non the wiser.. this is criminal.. those are some of the mintiest pre decimal Oz coins you will EVER see..
Likewise, I used to bid on online auctions a lot years ago when living overseas. Used to purchase mostly graded Australian sovereigns for considerably less than they sold for back in Australia. Also used to bid on parcels of gemstone rough. Got 6 small parcells of GENUINE tsavorite garnet rough. Won each parcel for about $10 USD each. Though a lot was shattery, it was all facet grade material. I cut one stone into a .8 ct flawless gem and had it mounted for the mother-in-law. Worth over $600 cut and mounted. Still have the remainder of the parcels and have cleaned them up a bit for the future with about half a dozen or more pieces large enough to cut stones .5 ct to 1 ct. Online auctions can be worth the gamble sometimes. My concern is that how to prove they are really item? I just joined their on-line auction saying adorable item. Something looks unreal and estimated price was too low.
