This is in the Washington Post (yes the exposed Watergate one!).

    Predictions now open.

How long until they ditch him and put someone else in the seat?

This sort of worldwide publicity might not bother the Libs but a 30% popularity rating certainly will.

I thought 30% must have been quite near Gillard but, no, Wikipedia has a very interesting list:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newspoll#Lowest_approval_rating

So maybe it won't be Malcolm, but I doubt Abbott will do a Howard and hang around for a few decades waiting for his chance again.

BTW if I were him I'd give my advisors the old heave-ho.
    This is incredibly politically naive.
On top of the 'free degree' fiasco (well I think to be fair they paid $8k or so), he's taking the nepotism punches square on the credibility scale.
He must have really annoyed someone to be getting this sort of MSM pasting. After that tax refund to Murdoch I thought he would have been safe for a while!!
    :D

Tony Abbott would arrange his own assassination before he would resign as Prime Minister.

The only way he'll leave office is if he's ousted by the people at an election or ousted by his own party.

    I hate cats

Well hate is a strong word, especially as they are the second largest predator of spiders after Birds (who I also hate ... except Kooka's of course)

    Anyhow here's an awesome "app"

I installed it, forgot about it, and was wondering WTF was going on with all these cat pictures linked with stories about Labor's Plan to destroy the Liberal Party called "install Tony Abbott and make them unelectable for a generation"

There's not much loyalty in politics - see Julius Caesar onwards!

I think they'll try and weather this one but the hue and cry seems very broadly based now and it will be hard for Abbott to put all this behind him. He will need some major wins to get back the sort of approval he had prior to the election. He won the leadership by one vote and managed to hold the Libs together throughout the Labor political debacles but most pollies are only interested in re-election so if he endangers that he's for the drop.

I can't recall any PM dropping so fast in the opinion polls. History will mark this one up. I thought he was incompetent since the initial fails on Indonesia and his foot in mouth disease generally in his first 100 days. This will now be an interesting time since he's raised Labor's stocks and Shorten seems to be stepping carefully and letting Abbott be hoisted on his own petard.

I am still puzzled why the MSM has turned on Abbott so. He was having weekly strategy meetings with the Murdoch chain before the election and now they seem to be hanging him out to dry. As they say, nothing in politics happens by chance.

50% of the population is below average.

Socialism is the equal sharing of unequal earnings.

You can either work for your money, or vote for it.

Socialism works well, until you run out of other people's money.

I'm looking forward to two years time when I retire and can vote Labor. (They took the you out of Labour!)

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed is he :D

seems to me he's trying to pull off the Bob Hawke look without any of the charisma I have seen bricks with more likability :D

but you got to give him credit for having a go even if a dead fish could do better and no fish were hurt in this production.

not talking about any policy here just him who would vote for him he has that creepy feeling like if we had the kids at the park and he showed up it would be time to leave come on kiddies time to go have dinner Mr creepy just showed up :|

How else do you solve a $315 BILLION that's ($315,000,000,000) growing by $30+ BILLION a year debt, without pain?

Do socialists have NO basic common sense?

what's all this socialist stuff going on around here is that like just some throwaway line when people don't have anything constructive to add?

last time I looked its a capitalist country, where people can climb out of the gutter and make it as western culture puts it, but beware when you do as those already there don't like it.

so whinging about socialism is not even an argument its capitalism that's the discussion isn't it ?

if people don't like capitalism then change it but 1st consult with woolies, coles and bunnings 1st before you go changing things, they might have something to help you reconsider like an expensive lawsuit or concrete slippers :D

Maybe he could save face by claiming he was resigning for health reasons.

When he insists on a double dissolution, they'll
    replace him with Turnbull?
But keep most of the cruel changes.

You seem to have ignored and failed to answer the question in line.1. and then forgotten the past 6 disasterous years of socialist government.

You seem to forget that the Conservatives WON the last election in a landslide - DEMOCRACY at work! What everyone is crying about now is the (long term) pain of fixing the socialist MESS!

"Coles, Woolies, and Bunnings" is a s typical Red Herring of socialist debate. Get back to me when those companies commit murder!

In a democratic election, the various partys present
to the electorate, the changes that they will introduce when elected.
The people vote in the party that most represents their wishes.

The liberal party did not do that.It did not say it was going to do the
cruel things it has done .It is a illegal government and will not regain government for decades because it has betrayed the Australian public.
It cheated the Australian people and seems to think this is perfectly OK

As much as I hate the 'moral equivalence' debating tactic of others, I must remind you of a major commitment from komrade juLIAR!

    "There will be NO..........."

She paid for it, and was tossed out on her lying, incompetent FAT arse!

i do community work, i help others in need i smile a lot, eat healthy food, grow my own veggies, live a humble lifestyle, like coming here and having a bit of fun :)

it really isn't rocket science this political debate there are people who are clambering to keep what they have and those that don't care about them, who look after each other, i.e those with not much who care about each other and pay it forward with the little bits they have.

i make no apologies for my political stand point and nor i should as nor should you we all have a right to be here and be who we are if you don't like my political views that's fine and i respect everyone's here even if i disagree with some.

the hard thing about communicating on a forum is the lack of voice tone and body movement which says more than words if i can add i smile as i write and its all a bit of fun life is going to do what it does whether i am alive or not and well life is short so having a bit of fun with this stuff is part of my life experience, i do not take my self so seriously as to think i can change Australia or the world but i can change one persons life with a gift of a simple tomato or a cucumber just so they know someone does care.

for me looking out for each other is important but i see a lot of fear pushing people further in to self its the me generation, we will learn one day that the self is part of the whole and if any part of the whole is hurting every part of the whole hurts.

so the us and them mentality is as far as we have come in to evolution and eventually we will work out we are all connected as a whole but until then we will have pain because we are fighting our evolution of who we really are.

life is not about outside accomplishments it is about inside adjustments.

    RNT,

The socialists are ALWAYS obsessed by their political opponents, especially those that give them a hiding at the polls. Good haters that will use the ultimate insult "fascists" at the drop of a hat.

The mustache has been featured already on a 'protest' placard. The swastika will be next.
