28 Dec is a Public Holiday for Auspost award staff only :(

Does not apply to StarTrack, Auspost Contractors or Auspost Contract Staff.

It's a left over from the old 'Picnic Day'.

Most Auspost back at work tomorrow except HQ staff who have been directed to take leave until 6 Jan.

Tell your story on their facebook site , you'll get a response
If you can provide a receipt for the goods they will refund it

Luckily for me my item turned up a week later (after it was scanned as delivered the other end of the country ), and how do you provide a receipt for 30 year old bike parts

Got a parcel that was lodged on 11 Jan in NSW, made it to VIC on 16th Jan, went back to NSW on the 24th Jan, then back to VIC on 24th Jan, goes to QLD on 27th and now in VIC on 30th.

I asked my LPO about this, as I was going to claim it back on paypal, that sometimes, believe it or not, the sorter read the sender address as the recepient address, hence the backandforth between 2 addresses. ANd my guess they just say, fuck it and have a break in sunny Queensland.

    lol

Sent a 1oz maple to Slovakia in early December. Followed the advice on here from Beyond about sending as a metal sample with a value of 50$ ( the face value).

Coin left Australia no probs by Austpost. Tracked it all the way. Slovak customs had other ideas. sent me friend a letter to ask them to explain the coin ( it was sent wrapped in thick paper towel and taped up). He filled out the form and sent it back and then nothing. He got his letter in late Jan and sent it back 2 days later.

Got to work last week and the package was on my desk with rejected written on it.

At least it didnt go missing.

Performed my usual cheat/hack to send coins using a C5 Express envelope 500g (documents only) for only $7.65, with coins embedded in cardboard cut-out, and then layered with another sheet of cardboard on either side. This is the method I have used for coins for over 10 years.
Aus post must use fkn Xray-vision nowadays, because I received this in the mail (WTF???):

Yep, a well-known cheat. I have to send a couple of things and am reluctant to do the cheat coz of this now. Luckily the buyer is cruisy AF.

I understand the "documents" part and therefore it being pulled up but what about your own padded envelopes. As far as I understand, it long as it correct postage, has a registered paid sticker and is under 20 mm this is still possible. We all do it like that for 1 or 2 coins and that doesn't even come to 10 mm thick.

So is our own packaging ok? Like this example? https://www.silverstackers.com/foru...ow-to-by-existing-members.97445/#post-1165254
