Put some of your wealth into good, hard, REAL MONEY NOW.
Get out of the Markets(?) with their paper & digital promises of wealth in the future, or you could end up like these poor souls after the next CRASH.

    good vid @JOHNLGALT .

I do feel for people in this situation. They worked hard, saved and thought the gentle music of the merry go round would last forever. Like all things in life, if you don't pay attention, think about issues and possible outcomes and then plan....then you will wake up one day an realise you ain't on the merry go round rather the scariest never ending roller-coaster ride of your life.

It is interesting stuff, but you have to be realistic. Back when empires came and went, people weren't migratory and the economy/trade wasn't global. Info sure wasn't global either.

Sure, the US has its problems (electronics addiction, lazy ppl, obesity, rich/poor gaps, etc), but that stuff happens in every first world nation.

As long as the best and the brightest and the richest keep wanting to move to the US and stay in the US and invest here, things won't change anytime soon. Other countries just copy US culture to a large extent. Lack of manufacturing isn't detrimental since US workers just design the systems and do the real work (thinking/design) that pays the best. Oh... and having a military that is many times stronger than the rest of the world and being on a continent with resources to be energy independent doesn't hurt either.

"As Rome goes, so goes the world"... and USA will continue to function as Rome, for our lifetimes and well beyond.

The only possible thing I see that could potentially disrupt US as the world leader is if another country beat them to high functional AI (transportation, manufacture, military, etc robots), but chances of that are VERY slim based on educational, free thinking, financing, and resource disparities which the US presently leads by miles. That is simply what happens when the best and brightest tech, engineer, science, finance, etc ppl from all over keep coming to the US to work or to study... or they work or contract with US companies abroad. Thinking another 'empire' will catch up is kinda like saying an avalanche can be stopped once in motion. A group with the most intelligence, money, and guns is going to win every day and twice on Sundays.

I know the feeling, I lost thousands of Aussie$ in the 1987 Stock market collapse.
I went to the pub over the road from my job at lunch break, stunned, & didn't go back to work that day. At least I was young enough to start over, but I've kept away from the Stock Market (?) Casino ever since.
