    As well as any Newstart allowance or whatever they call the dole now, there are a host of other welfare payments that are accessible.

    Short of having a yacht and sailing away, how do they leave the country without government systems automatically cutting them off of the dole? Surely immigration and Centrelink systems are linked?

    They are linked. As soon as you leave the country Centrelink stops payments.

    It was revealed yesterday that Work For The Dole programs would be run via the same channels as court ordered community service programs.

    Having the unemployed work next to people with criminal convictions who are working off their sentences taints the Work for the Dole program. In theory, sure, it's totally difference, but in practice the jobless would be treated the same as criminals.

    More with other welfare payments but I know of several people on the dole who visit Bali for months on end. Don't know how they work it.

    Peter did you also say partners? So your saying if you dont have a job you cant have a partner ?

    Im sure theres thousands of unemployed people that would disagree with that .
