That is absolutely stunning, what's something like that worth? I never collected gemstones but I really like that

Holy cow, that's amazing! More pics please. Can you do some with a light source shining into it?

Just trying to visualise what 3.5 ct looks like. What would the dimensions be?

Not much mate, its only a rough.. est $10-20? (most jewellery stores wont stock stuff like this so sourcing it is not easy) .. nor is putting a price on it. this is my only one.. not many available that I have seen (excess supply over demand).

the flawless untreated gems would be worth a ship-load (like those imaged above in top image).

Amazing how these come out of the ground like this, I always assumed it went through an extensive treatment to get to that look

Like all gems, the bigger the more rare and more expensive.

This one could be fashioned into a emerald cut possibly around 2ct but I cant say for sure TBH

don't suppose it's for sale? new opm round? or a buff? I really like the fact it isn't super clear and I even like the cracks and flaws.

What's a good source for them. saw some on eBay but not the best examples and not easy to know what your going to end up with.

Hi and thanks for your kind offer, sorry I don't know any sources for this type of gem, this was a once-off so zero chance of getting more.. just got round to getting from NZ so first opp to load into forum.

I mainly purchase the included and partially opaque gems as I am not expert enough to differentiate higher grade stones etc so staying within my comfort level till I get the skills to grade Flawless gems. . its quite the specialised skill! :) and uber expensive at the top end of the scale!

Opals are kept in a safe secret spot. No plans on parting with them :)
