I've been meaning to organize this for a while and several people (hi Steve, hi Roo) have been badgering me about it so...

    Sydney Stackers New Year's Lunch

    - Where: Harts Pub, The Rocks

    - When: Saturday, 19th Feburary from 1pm

    - Public Transport options (especially if you're drinking)
The pub is a 4-5 minute walk from Circular Quay, so there are about 4 dozen bus routes. Wynyard train station is about the same distance.
Directions from Google Maps are (here).

    - Parking
CBD on the weekend - not too bad.

    - Food and drink options
Harts Pub specialses in craft beer and has 12 taps that rotate though a variety of brews from all around the country, including a dedicated cider tap. No idea what will be on offer at the time but there are tasting paddles available so you can try a few without committing to a full pint. Sorry, no foreign-owned rubbish like VB or Tooheys, so you'll just have to try a well made, hand crafted beer by someone who doesn't add a pile of hangover-inducing chemicals to it.

Food menu is (here) and I'll shout half a dozen starters for everyone to share.

Overall, the place is a "gastro pub" so the prices are a bit higher but so is the quality of the food and beverages.

    - Facilities
There are no pokies, meaning the pub is child-friendly (adult supervision required) so if you have kids you're welcome to bring them along. There is a covered beer garden/courtyard at the back which would be a nice area for lunch.

    - PRIZES!
A few people have offered to donate prizes for a raffle, so check below to see what goodies will be up for grabs.

    - Other Stuff
The Rocks Markets are on from 10am-5pm on Saturdays as well so if you're looking for something to do either before or after, they're just down the road. Make a day of it.

Should be able to make it.
If you want to be popular; you should shout us paddles instead of food. :)

Okay, if you're going to put up a prize for raffle, three equal second prize winners will get a paddle each from me.

    -ve :p

    THAT'S A GREAT IDEA!!!!

I'm sure with enough heads-up, a little planning, and online return flight rates, we could all chip in and bring this "lovable little forum admin" to Sydney for a get together. A little interstate trip.

huh? huh? with enough Sydney'ers , it would be quite cheap per person???

No, but a few people have asked me who's coming and if so-and-so will be there. Unless you've said here that you plan on coming, nobody will know.

I think about a dozen or so people have confirmed with me that they'll be there (including the out-of-towners) so its already looking like a decent sized meet.

Probably not, but just look out for the table with people passing lumps of silver and gold around going "Oooh, ahhhh, shiny!"

I think everyone who has turned up to the Wednesday meet for the first time has found us that way :)
