    To be honest the Swiss franc is already the cockroach currency of the world, the currency could survive nuclear war. The currency adopting a gold standard would just make it stronger. If they backed it by gold i would definitely buy some franc's :)

    Ditto on that one could be one of the safest investments going. At only 0.1 gram per coin they'll either be very small or gold plated or 9 kt.

    The Bank of International Settlements (BIS) juuust happens to be in Basil, Switzerland .... it is THE central bank of all central banks ... i am sure it will have a say ...

    Aaaah Switzerland ... the land of Swiss bank accounts and the only country that can declare immunity from 2 world wars to remain untouched and unscathed ....

    This is an excellent idea and it is good to see people beginning to think this way even though it might not yet be approved.

    The first currency to be backed with gold will become the new world reserve currency and the Swiss franc could just be it!
