Hi eerybody, hope you had a lovely Easter. Trying to figure out a clever way of storing little gems. At the moment they are all cuddled up in a plastic bag which does them no justice. Anybody have any ideas?
They are pretty. I put mine in their own little bags, then the whole lot in a bag and throw it in a corner somewhere so it looks like something of no value.
Sound similar to what I do. Im thinking of getting some sort of case with individual little boxes for each bar or an album of some description so I don't have to keep unwrapping them, just not sure on what type to get, or if indeed there are albums produced to cater for this type of thing.
Storing or displaying? You can get some foam which can have holes the exact size of the bars cut into it to house the collection, or one of those shadow box frames.
Now I know you are trying to upset the collectors...but no, I don't think there would be any problem with that, it would make selling them a bit of a pain though.
I keep one out to look at and then I put it away. Then I take another one out, and then I put it away. I sometimes get my 1966 rounds out just to listen to them. Tips for storage of shiny in a unit would be welcome. Please PM me with any tips for apartment dwellers.
Noticed that they are also in airtight capsules. Thinking my best bet is to vacuum seal them before storage as a clever stacker pointed out to me, or just let them tone naturaly in the box, not sure on how the plasic in the box may affect them. Probably an idiotic idea, but I wonder if slabbing a few of them together in a clear fiberglass type of resin, like the resin that is used to fill holes in wooded table or the resins that are used to make gearstick nobs would be stupid?
i have used these plastic fishing tackle boxs for a few years now and still all the coins are in as new condition ,no toning what so ever and have been kept in a safe all the time
Spend the next x years haunting antique shops and eBay looking for an interesting wooden compartmentalised box. I picked up a a nice mahogany 10" by 22" in the UK that used to have a set of silver plaques in it - I need to make some suitable partitions. Look for old cutlery boxes, or commission one. You could make on with a false top with fishing flies or sewing bobbins in it, and have individual pockets lined with baize underneath...
^ How about these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Inlayed-...799?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460e038e5f (would need some serious restoration, but might look stunning) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mid-19th...UK_Antiques_Woodenware_RL&hash=item5898ec9999
