As the heading suggests I intend to stamp my own serial numbers on my 10oz silver bars. These are generic PWB 999+ bars with no collectable value other than their silver content. My thinking is if they were ever stolen there's no way to identify them. I'm banking on an opportunist thief will look for a quick sale at cash converters etc. I'm aware that dealers such as cash converters update all transactions to the Police database including serial numbers and 100 point ID check of seller. All in all the answer is simple....its my silver and I can do what I want with it.....but just asking the more experienced stackers if there is an underlining issue with this practice that i'm not aware off. Cheers!
Don't waste your time even thinking about it any further. Only in shitknee do pawnbrokers actually report to the police
you are correct...since they're just BU bars, you tend to get only spot price range... also, when thieves steal metals bars, don't you think theyll be melting them...?
Lol long time since I've heard anyone being called an "Eejit"....making me homesick. . Yes you're right of course. Eventually I'll be looking to pour my own bars using the silver but that's a long way off. Yes your right if it was silver that was targeted. I'm thinking about the opportunist looking for his next fix. Saying that if they got in the safe they'd know what their doing so my point is probably mute. Leave well alone is what I'm hearing..
