What are the Stackers thought's on silver grains as an investment ? My thinking is that worthwhile sales in the gram amount could eventuate when the price of silver get's to where it should be. On the down side people could be highly suspicious of the purity of such a product come sale time. Mind you, this doesn't seen to be a problem with small gold nuggets.

How long would it take for someone to figure out you could dilute the silver content by adding blobs of tin/lead solder and mixing all the granules together in a bag?

(Answer: about 4 seconds, which is roughly how long it took me.)

+1 to what Big A.D. said. "Trust me, it's silver!".

These are an industrial supply item for jewelers etc - not an investment form. If you want SHTF currency, stack small denomination junk silver like threepence.

Yeh personally i wouldnt stack those cause of the difficulty in proving its what you say it is when you try to sell it. I know some places that will take it, do an assay on it and come back to you 1 week later. If its a coin or a known bar its immediate. Much easier then waiting a week or whatever for the dealer to send it to the assayer

The problem with grains, (Better known in the trade as granules) is they are not GST except so attract GST.

How small a stamp have you got ? :)

There's a little guy in Bangkok who will engrave your name onto a grain of rice...

when I told him my name was "Fasbender Periwinkle-fishbottom the 3rd" he looked a little flummoxed though! :/

It has to have the stamp of its purity on it to be GST exempt.

Unless it says 999 on the coin or 925 or some other identifiable mark, forget it.

    Dynoman,

The smallest I know and purchased is 1g from CMC mint - purchased plenty at under $1 each which at the time had me worried of over paying...

With the FleaBay 1g spot somewhere between $4 and $5 I don't loose any sleep...

Don't suggest stacking too much due to the premium. My thought was to barter for bread and milk when the SHTF...

The smallest bullion attracts the highest premium ha, a 1 gram slug should be around a dollar plus 20% or so right. I wonder if the current market for the fractional stuff is targeting the SHTF scenario ? Pure "keep you awake at night paranoia"stuff if you ask me. More likely that we find ourselves under the command of a foreign power. Then you loose your PM stack anyway.
