Do you have a source for those numbers? The PM numi page still has the number I have given and was last dated 28th of April. http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/2013_Perth_Mint_Numismatic_Coins_Sales_to_311213.pdf
Nevermind, I found it http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/australian-koala-2013-1oz-silver-coloured-coin-in-card.aspx
Perth lied! How can they declare a mintage when it's still for sale? Mint To order...what a fing joke! So!!!!!! On Perth's website the 2013 can be for sale for 20 years or more! Another total F-up by Perth. Idiots!
You declare a mintage when you stop MAKING them. There's no statute of limitations on selling stuff you've made. The mintage of lunars is declared in advance before the launch. Are you saying they should cease selling them before they've launched the product? Your axe grinding is getting a bit tiresome.
Once you understand the difference between mint to order and a limited mintage you may have a grasp of what's going on. Do you know the mintage policy for carded coins? Numi or bullion? Just explain so that the average folk can embrace your knowledge! Or would you like to argue to gain knowledge? H
@Holdfast Maybe the explanation of PM Blogteam dated June 3, 2014 at para. 9 is lightning up the darkness. http://blog.perthmint.com.au/2013/04/03/carded-koala-now-in-colour/#comments
There is no axe just that folk are getting a raw deal from Perth. The whole idea of mint-to-order is exactly that. There's no point declaring a mintage of mint to order coins when...in this case....Perth are still selling the coins at retail and could do so until they are sold which could take forever or until Perth decide to declare the coins sold-out. The 2013 Carded Koala is the first coin Perth have ever given a final mintage and continues to sell. Infact, the coin is not mint to order any more it has been turned into a limited mintage. H
Hello @all I am a here a new member from Germany and not Captain Kookaburry or pretending to be anyone else. ;-) But I am a lot interested in Koala Silver coins and and hope to exchange here with other collectors. Regards, SilverScrat
So Would it be safe to say, based on above statement that the carded series is now officially finished
That depends on what The Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director (Mr. Ron Currie) and his team decide. Seems to me, that some of the suggestions to Perth, like.......... *Numbered packaging, *Hand selected coins, *Graded bullion coins in the cards, *Coloured coins, *A mix of both. ............has not met Perth's sales requirements. Shame really, because the market is screaming-out loudly for numbering on all carded coins; you would have thought that an organisation as big as Perth could easily provide outcomes to meet, consumer demand. To me, a hand-selected graded bullion coin on a numbered card is a winner. Perhaps Perth may re-introduce the carded coins, lets hope-so.
I just got my 07 koala non-carded bullion thanks to Kam. now slowly looking at 08 to complete the series
