The glare caught the 2008 so here is a slightly better shot.

    Good work.

The early Koalas weren't considered desirable because of their "unlimited" mintage (and weird mint quality) - and turned out quite collectible. Always the sleepers you have to watch.

Yeah I have a few of the carded earlier ones from 2007 and 2008. The 2007 one is in a green card from memory. You can also stack the earlier carded koala medallions (or rounds) that the Perth Mint released which were the precursor to the Koala bullion coin. 1997-2001 the earlier Koalas in card were released, at least that's the years I have and I'm pretty sure all the years.

The mintages of those earlier year Koalas of 07 and 08 in card were pretty small, around 3,000 each year.

D, can you recall how much the issue price for 2007 & 2008 carded koalas?

The koala medallions were done by RAM if i'm not mistaken?

I'm pretty sure the medallion/rounds Koalas were done by the Perth Mint.

Perth's official carded Koala's in presentation cards are "blue", the green 2007 and 2008 are-not the official release or part of the mintage.

The mintage for the official Perth Mint Koala carded coins is: (Correct as at 14 Jan 2013)

    2007 3,060
    2008 4,601
    2009 6,292
    2010 2,752
    2011 11,865
    2012 2,315

    http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/blog/blog/13-01-11/Kookaburra_Mintage_Policy_Update.aspx

Often you'll see the green cards on ebay, but they are not the card to complete your collection. )Look for the official blue packaging)

The official Perth Mint "Blue" 2007 Koala coin in presentation card has a mintage of 3,060; on the back of the presentation card you can read the fine print that provides Perth's address, telephone number, facsimilie, email and web address.

    The green card does not!

Also, if you look at the actual images of the koala's (Not the coins) for each year, the official packaging has the same picture bi annually, so the official Perth Mint picture will be the same for 2007 and 2008.

Below, I've posted images so you can see the official Perth releases.

Thanks for that post Holdfast, I have been wondering about the green cards and now what you have said clears up everthing. So do you know what the green cards were released for because I have seen that they have the Perth Mint logo on the back. Are they a Downies issue?
I also have a 2007 World Money Fair Berlin Coin Show Special carded koala with a different picture again. On the back it says No more than 2,500 will be released in this packaging.
Do you know what the final mintage was for these?

The Green cards aren't from The Perth Mint, they must have been from one of Perth's wholesale customer, Downies would be a good guess.

I don't follow the after-market stuff but you can be assured that they are not Perth's. Perth only have the cards in blue. :)

As for the 2007 World Money Fair Berlin Coin Show Special carded koala...that carded coin is an official release by The Perth Mint it has a final sales figure (final mintage) of 1,180 carded coins.

Goodaye, glad you have an interest in the carded Koala's, I have the 2007 but unfortunately it's not for sale, I'll try to find one for you though. ;)

    Cheers
