In the US, the horse has a better resale value. Ask me in 6 months and I might give you the opposite answer. If you plan to resell to a dealer, the horses are easier to sell, but the wholesale resale values of both coins are similar.
Being the same price personally I would go for both, but I would probably go little heavier on the horses due to their popularity.
With the Perth Mint (PM) Lunar 2 Series, Horse is definitely my choice personally over the Snake. But that said, I have purchased a number of Lunar Snake coins and medals (I was also born in the Year of the Snake), just not the PM Lunar series. I much more prefer this snake: http://basemetalsbullion.blogspot.com/2012/09/2013-new-century-snake-dance-china-coin.html There is a very low mintage silver version of about 1.3 kilos weight...but the price is out of my range. But I digress. PM Lunar Horse would be my choice. .
snakes for sure, yep, they're the ones you gotta go for. ....prepares WTS thread for 80x1oz snakes.... Once I sell my snakes then my answer as a neutral will change to horse.
Haha nobody likes snakes in general. Off topic it just dawned on me that horses are used to make snake anti-venom using snake venom. So in that respect horses win.
horses all day, every day, any day...I don't mind the snakes, but no comparison to the horse. I think the horse and the tiger will be the 2 big hits in the series...but time will tell.
I like the snakes Anyone want to trade a roll of snakes (yours) for a roll of horses (mine)? Each pays postage to the other (in AUS)
a snake walks up to a horse and says how's your day going and the horse says just great I just won the melbourne cup, so the snake says so you are happy then? horse says yes I am very happy!! snakes says so why the long face then  snake says you better smarten up mate if your going to have such a long face after winning the cup and if you don't I will bite your long faced butt and give you something to be sad about.
Real, actual snakes rock....there's no doubt about that....it's just that if we are talking about Perth Mint Lunar coins, Horse is a better design and more popular Lunar animal in general. Meet the Inland Taipan, considered to have the most toxic venom in the world: .
