The problem with Ainslie is that they were greedy at the start... setting it at $4200 a box where you could buy it at $4000 from the mint delivered. Then they went to 4100 and then to 3900... if they would have started out at 4000 or 3900 they would have moved a lot more at the start!
The last 10 that sold on ebay went for: 6 at $49.99 each incl. shipping 1 at $46.95 1 at $37.00 plus $2.50 shipping 2 at $44.95 plus $4.95 shipping
Except we are talking about out of issue "semi-numismatic" bullion where they are no longer available at dealers.
Not sure if they are selling at this price, but going for 59.00 at APMEX. http://www.apmex.com/product/71339/2013-1-oz-silver-australian-lunar-year-of-the-snake-coin-sii
Whenever you see an abnormally high price on Apmex, check the quantity. In this case, they only have 3 coins. If they had 100 coins, the price would be much lower.
Does anyone know their realistic bulk price? I asked about the 1oz gold snakes recently too. They don't seem to be that easy to source from what I can tell, everyone thinks they are cheap and readily available but that's not what i'm seeing.
Rolls of snakes here are going for 650 AUD cheapest I've seen. 1oz gold snake is around 6.5% over spot price here as well.
Most of the snakes are probably in the US & Europe. The biggest problem is that there is no incentive for current holders to sell. They would be selling at a loss and if they don't need the money, why sell? If gold was $2000, there would be plenty of snakes for sale. Just be patient and the occasional sale will happen.
About $33 each id say.. doubt they would be more $$$ than the Horse but im sure you could sell them more to the right (sucker) person Dead-Duck-in-the-water=lunar 1for1
