A great SHTF Silver hoarding video I just watched. Very informative.
Yeah I'm not to sure about the gun thing. Eg: Man goes nuts on medication, shoots family then himself. Happens all to often in the States unfortunately.
yet people die more often in car accidents in the US too. and if he didn't have a gun, he'd go get the knife in the kitchen ... anyway, great video!
I doubt fractionals would be good in SHTF situations. Sheeple can only just guess the amount of silver in a 1oz kook and its written on the damn thing. Even then you would have to educated them of the cost and hope they believe you. Could you imagine a 1966 50c or .8 X spot = ?!?!. Who is going to believe you its .8? Who is going to set spot is the LBMA and Comex falter? 1oz coins will be a hard sell, but much better then fractionals.
I hate it when people make sense as the carpet slides away from beneath you. So what are you saying ? Stack Sugar, Corn, Wheat, Pig Bellies ?
excuse me? yennus, if the S realy does HTF in Sydney, what are you going do when your house gets looted, throw your silver bars and hope you clock someone in the head? I feel sorry for the law abiding Australians that can't legally own firearms. It's nice to stack silver. I'd rather have it and NEVER need it. Same is true for other things.
i think the dimes (in the US) will be the easiest thing to work with since they're so small. More and more people are becoming aware of what the pre 1965 coinage is all about. The case in that video is more like a PM dealer that weighs it out and everything and also happens to run a kwik-e-mart. I think if it becomes more of a common thing to buy with silver, people are just going to go by face value. It would take too long to weigh it out for every single transaction.
This is another alternative we have in the US to obtain physical metals. I always check my change, check the kid's piggy bank or go to the bank for a roll of coins. You never know what you find. When supplies dry up or metal prices go ballistic, this method doesn't cost a cent. A 1982 and prior one cent penny has three cents worth of copper. A 1964 and prior ten cent dime has $2.37 worth of silver.
There are those that contend that above ground silver is less abundant than gold. Gold is stored, and reclaimed, where as silver is used and consumed. They would say that the reserves of silver are gone, and are not being replaced at a sufficient rate to meet demand. Below ground silver is supposed to be 15 times more abundant than gold, which is the reason why the gold silver ratio has traditionally moved around that number.
Honey, wheat, sugar and rice are good candidates as if packaged properly they will last up to 20 yrs as are manual gardening tools, boots, alcohol (Jim beam hip flasks ). I'm not saying silver is bad, i'm saying skill in selling is going to be crucial. Anything with weight and fineness + government pic ona back (Queen, etc.) I think is the way to go IMHO. That said I seem to have ended up with 1 Kg pamps GRRR!
I found a silver war nickel in a roll of nickels! Just about paid for the roll! Yes. My dad is an ER doc and they use and throw away so many X-rays, its unbelievable. And think, its happening all over the world. That's a good chuck of global silver consumption right there that is never reclaimed.
My bad samboyellowsub... I was quoting from "Tropic Thunder". No offense intended. The 'retard' comment was in regards to the "if he didn't have a gun, he'd go get the knife" I actually agree with your sentiments. It is sad that law abiding citizen cannot own firearms in Australia, and it would be better to have a gun and not need it than the other way around. If the SHTF when I'm back in Sydney - yeah, I'll probably head to a friends farm, primarily cos he has guns and lots of animals to eat.
