This has been covered once or twice a long time ago but thought it might be good to have a poll on this.
What are peoples preferences when it comes to round 50s.

Is it worth it based on resale (i.e easier to sell cleaner items Vs not clean)

Is it not worth it as buyers don't care, and not worth the time and effort cleaning them for such a low premium item.

Extremely cheap and easy to clean ( YouTube video on how to do this with hot water, bicarbonate soda and cloudy ammonia). Wouldn't really affect the price unless they were really disgusting, but paying a couple of dollars to have really shiny round 50's is definitely worth it. A lot of fun if you have a lot of them in a shiny pile :)

And you don't need bicarb. Into the plastic ice cream container with some cloudy ammonia from coles for $1.40 then swish around, then into a nice warm soapy bath. These coins were hardly circulated so many are almost unc

Bicarb isn't necessary, but it adds a nice shine at the end if your run the coin and some bicarb between your fingers. The small particle size gets into all the tiny rivets.

They look NICE when they're shiny and 99% are of no collectable value so why not clean em up.
Having said that, when buying them I don't really care if they are shinny or filthy dirty.

I clean all 50s and non- decimal except for stuff I get in flips or albums. I get them checked, sell any non-bullion and clean the rest.

Ok... so its pretty unanimous about cleaning the 50s.
Thought there may have been more people for not doing anything to them.

Anyway good to know and have all mine cleaned now. :)

Aren't some average commemorative 50 cents coins worth more than round 50cents?
