    say you had an inside tip off that the economy was going to crash next week, would you stock up on gold, silver or a mix?

    I get those tips weekly from Zerohedge, Jim Sinclair et al :lol:

    Bugger PM's, you'd want food, fuel and TP for that situation. And a very secure shelter. Then I'd stock up on G&S

    What type of event? Stock market crash? If it was going to be a stock market crash I'd go with not buying extra of either and instead get some cash together for a fire sale on stocks. Gold will initially fall in a crash (like in 2008).

    House, I think we interpreted 'going down' a little differently haha. If 'going down' means SHTF then I'd pass on those stocks haha.

    I've been into survival for over 30 years, I have most everything I need. I am currently using and replacing my old food stores, and have lots of barter items on hand. All I really need to do is refill my propane tank at my property up in the sticks, and buy some last minutes items.
    So I would go with silver.

    But seriously, if I can't afford to stock up on life supporting goods then I would sell enough of my PM to do so. What good is wealth preservation when you're dead of starvation or exposure. Life preservation > Wealth preservation.

    I guess it would depend whether the tip-off is is just another GFC crash or a complete fiat collapse. If the source is zerohedge, just ignore.

    Take all the G&S I have. Have a mate with a farm. I'd head straight there to fortify it and avoid the crowds. No point sitting around waiting for everyone else to clog up the highways and break down in terrible places.

    Re-read my answer and thought I looked like a psycho. Note that is for SHTF fantasy scenarios where a flint to start a fire is more valuable than many other things.

    If, to re-read that the economy was just going down...well after selling all my personal and SMSF shares, stocking toilet paper, some more food any fuel, lots of small size silver with a few gold to trade for capital goods.
