Started looking at this mining business again today and my interest is worsening.
Monthly Chart's NOT a buy that I can see, and copper might well get lower (reading Marc Faber and Kyle Bass opinions about China)

SFR's earnings declining, but still very profitable last year and predicts roughly same production fy16.
    ROE still a robust 21% in fy15.
Very consistent production in 3 year history. Has a handy bit of gold by product to offset cost - about half an oz of Au per tonne of Cu production if I read right.
Has been paying down debt rapidly, remaining debt not a problem. Building its cash reserve at the same time.
Investing in more exploration. Very strong exploration results in next door tenement, jv with Talisman Mining.
SFR paid a dividend for 2 of the 3 years of production so far, with 3.2% div yield forecast for 2016 at current price.
Has a mine plan stretching out to 2021.

It should become a buy sometime? Brokers are divided, morningstar analysts estimates listed on comsec suggesting a weak fy2017 but a blast-off fy2018

Not held, patient watch, might become a good bottom of the cycle buy in years ahead.

SFR now at about a 5 year high after breaking a major Resistance line at $6.80 over the last couple of weeks.

Chart - TLM, might be breaking out of a 'rectangle base' today (or soon)?
Talisman (TLM) has 30% stake in Monty and surrounding Springfield project. Sandfire has 70%. Good update from TLM today.
Not held, might buy if consolidation not complete and pulls back.

Monthly chart's looking good for holders: Break above $7 multi-year resistance. Three closes above the rising volatility band. Volume firm and rising.
    Had a ripper 1HFY18 result

I went more speculative with 10,000 Talisman (TLM) @ 21.5c recently.
TLM has 30% of the Monty Cu/Au mine jv with SFR

Talisman Mining (TLM) is in trading suspension till tomorrow pending an announcement which will respond to an offer from Sandfire Resources (SFR) for TLM's 30% share of the the Monty Mining joint venture and the surrounding Springfield exploration jv.
I doubt that the offer will be acceptable to TLM from the chat that I have read and the apparent go slow tactics of majority SFR in the exploration jv. The s.p chart though is bound to get some herbs.
