From what I can gather it's going to be a Meerkat, as for a release date, looks to be mid to late november or early december.
Not sure about BU version, as proof version, some dealer said official release date for 2016 is Friday Oct. 30, and AgAuSwe is correct, this one will be meerkat
Oct. 30 seems likely, one dealer has that date listed as the reveal date of the design. The nov-dec was just an estimation on my part, based on when the few dealers who have it currently listed is expecting stock.
I've got a few, myself.. and I really like the series, too. Just not wild about the 2016 Meerkat design..
I have always liked the Rwanda's and have bought small quantities each year. This year though, i am doubting i will continue. Here's some price comparisons as of today, for an example; 23 euro for the Rwanda 1oz 20 euro for Perth lunar 2 monkey 1oz 18.60 euro for Perth 2016 kookaburra Considering the Rwanda is now unlimited mintage, i don't see any justification for the expensive premium over spot.
Do you really think Rwanda coin will ever have a mintage of 300k or 500k like monkey or kookaburra? Nobodys know the exactly mintage of them but they are by far much much smaller as on the Perth Mint bullions
Do you really think it's acceptable to charge higher premium based on assumptions numbers will never reach those levels? Certainly, those with vested interests will encourage that policy. Ah yes, blind faith and trust in the mint/dealers..... what can possibly go wrong Let buyers decide for themselves if higher premiums are justified, by having access to declared mintages in the future. By the way, in answer to your question, i would have to concede they probably won't reach anywhere near those numbers. This is self-fulfilling due to the higher premium in the first place.
