I need a 2012 cook Island "Bounty" 1oz coin, can someone help where i can get it?Also what about the 2012 Andorra silver eagle? Thanks
Here is a nice write up about the series with pictures. http://www.squidoo.com/african-rwanda-wildlife-silver-coin-bullion-series
I'm guessing as the cheetahs doubled the mintage to 10,000 from previous years' 5000, they won't be stopping anytime soon. Gave up on a set with that gorilla though--too steep
This series also feature proof versions of each year with a mintage of 1000. I have the proof versions of each year except 2013. I paid 155 EUR for the proof 2008 Gorilla, unfortunately, i did not receive a Coa for it. The others came with Coa. I have seen the BU version of the 2008 Gorilla sell for more than the proof though. ATM i can't find the proof 2008 for sale anywhere. They come in hard round capsules as opposed to pouches, and have a much nicer finish when compared to the BU's. The proof versions are really really nice looking. I'm not selling. mike
It would seem the series is becoming more popular. Much more so. With that in mind I am sure they can keep coming up with animals to feature.
When having trouble, ask the Germans.... http://silberstars.de/xtc/SILVERCOINS/RUANDA/-RWANDA:::1_17.html
I have dealt with Irina alot although shipping with silberstars can be expensive. Robert with http://www.1oz.si/ is great as well and his shipping is cheaper.
I have 2 sets (all 6 issued) and I can sell one if there's any interest. I'll check the price for registered mail. I wouldn't like to rip off people.
Hi guys, Just wanted to share with you a picture of my favorite series. So happy to have all of them, some proofs, most BU. Are they as popular in Australia as in france?
I have the 2012, '13, '14 and looking to get the new one! I love the series. I love the designs. But as noted, the further you go back, they can get pricey! Obviously, the next one I wanna get is 2011 but man, that price! They do well as time goes by, so it seems. On another note, I noticed that some of you guys cut them out of the plastic and put them in air-tites. Is that something that should be done? I have read that the plastic may contain something that makes the silver turn colors? Sorry, I am that knowledgeable in the technical terms. Oxidize? PVC? Haha. What do you guys think! I want them to last, obviously, since they are expensive.. but I was just always worried about taking them out of the mint packaging. Would that mess with the value?
I don't think a lot of people are cuting these BU coins out of the plastic. The ones you see in air-tites on my picture are PROOFS ones. They come like that. So when you see coins of this series: - 100% of the PROOFS are in air-tites - Most of the BU are kept in the plastic (which I personaly love as well) Don't know how many people out there put their BU in air-tites though...
Well, all I can say is, does this look like normal "toning" on a 2-year-young coin fully sealed in mint packaging..? http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-58272-rwanda-african-rhino-toning.html Not saying this is going to happen to them all.. But I'm not willing to take that chance. Because given enough time & the right conditions, I'd say that plastic is a death-trap. Mine immediately go into air-tites -- after a quick dip to remove any residue, followed by a distilled water rinse & gentle pat with microfiber cloth (and then air-dry). As my observations lead to PVC. Could be wrong.. but doubt it. Wish I could find it, but there's another photo out there with *really* bad "color" on a handful of sealed early years, way worse than the above. I believe it was an eBay auction which ended long ago, if anybody has that ability to locate it (beyond typical eBay search for completed listings, due to age). Wish I had saved it now.
