Threads have started on hotcopper also, speculating that its not gold but silver. The pictures released are either silver platinum or rhodium. I do not for one second believe platinum or rhodium or even gold would be transported sitting on the floor of the plane.

    Have a look.

whats the majority of the colour of the dore bar? is it silver or gold. Its not silver plated, which it would nearly have to be to have that colouring. If it was gold dore, it wouldnt just be thrown on the floor of a shitty old plane like it was.

As per Perth Mint a gold dore bar is 70 to 80% gold, so would look gold, unless it had 20% Zinc or nickel.

The linked article below says 90% silver in a silver dore so would look silver

Id presume it if had more than 20% gold, the miner itself would refine it better to get to 80% gold on site to reduce cost of transport

    https://www.perthmint.com/refining-process.aspx
"Gold mines process ore using various techniques to produce an alloy composed primarily of gold and silver, which is called a dore bar. The composition of dore can vary significantly between mines, but generally the gold dore bars the Perth Mint processes are composed of between 70-80% gold and 10-15% silver."
