    One for the Sovereign collectors...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...first-coin-in-India-for-nearly-100-years.html

50,000 to be minted this year, although it would be nice to know how these will be sold/advertised.. Does anyone know anything about the Indian coin market?

I wonder if this coin is CGT exempt as well, as it has numismatic potential, possibly? (FYI; in the UK Sovereigns and Britannia coins are exempt from capital gains tax).

Came across a 1918 I sov this weekend.
(I now have 2 of them)
Roll on 2018, might make some money if they mint a 2018 India Sov

    ???

From my understanding the new Indian sovereigns are for the home market only. And fairly hard to come by.

    ... and usually very expensive.

You can get them though, as I was offered a new Indian sovereign earlier in the year. The seller wanted 800, so obviously I declined!

I suspect in 2018, the demand will be even higher as collectors will want to pair a 2018 I with their 1918 I sovereign. So expect some more crazy prices then.
