I think that's because in the very first reveal, the note was photographed over a gaudy purple background, and all the transparent areas of the note seemed like they were horribly purple. But no one knew this of course, and in reality, the note actually turned out to be quite lovely (imo).
The problem was that the photos published didn't do it justice. The clear stripe wasn't shown properly and made it look silly in the photos. When you actually got the note is look much better. This one looks good too when you hold it up:
The number of detailed security features the SNB has fit on the new 50 Franc note is staggering. I wonder if the RBA's new designs have nearly as much detail as the Swiss put in their currency.
I could have sworn there was a thread about the new $50 note but I couldn't find it so I figured this would be the next best thread to post in It's just been discovered that the new $50 note has a spelling error, and it's on all 46 million notes released
Haven't seen a zero dollar value note since Keating signed that 5'ver years back. I do hear that the RBA is gearing up for a Shorten Govt by printing a new note to account for pending economic mismanagement, increased govt debt and hyperinflation to follow. Hopefully this will be enough to buy some chewie in a few years time!
