During desperate times people look to idols and material things that are perceived 'blessed' (or cursed) for comfort. So, why not cash in on this zealous nature in us all by 'stacking' crosses, scones, bibles, pictures and anything considered 'religious'.

I can imagine the Catholics wanting some hail mary beads (rosemary beads) ;)

If you can afford to stack real artifacts, good for you, and good luck trying to keep the government hands away from it through powers of cohersion and what-have-you.

Is it moral or ethical? Well, not that this is a discussion about if moral or not, but I don't believe it to be immoral to cash in on people 'willing' to buy religious stuff. Hey, if it helps, don't actually 'sell' it, just merely 'barter' - all good mate ;)

Do not turn this thread into a religious discussion war
This thread is to discuss exploiting religious artifacts or material things of interest

It seems the catholic and orthodox community like their 'things'

I already have 10 cheapy bibles... these days you can pick them up for only a few dollars each (if you dont want the free ones given away by some church orgs)...

There is a Denzel Washinton movie that kind of touches on the subject of how rare and desired a bible is during (unexplained) 'end of days'... dont know name of movie but remember seeing a few minutes of trailer

It's all fair game. All about supply and demand. Besides those "genuine" judas silver coins W&F, I'm sure if you look hard enough, you might find a few crucifiction nails out there for sale on Fleabay.

As an aside, how would you define "religious"? What does some-one or a group of people have to do to be defined as a religion so that their artifacts can become collectable?

Of note is that there are differing versions of the bible ie the King James protestant bible is different from the catholic bible (which has extra books added and some verses changed).

I still want to know more about stacking scones. I've got an old age home across from me, I could be on the source.

Amazing how our ethnocentrism comes into this, which seems to mitigate against much of the morality/ethics of this sort of collecting.

Why is everything Christian Catholic centered?

Would it be kosher to try to sell a Jehovah Witnesses bible?
An Islamic religious item in the USA?
An Islamic religious item in the USA that was brought back from the middle east by a US soldier as a "war trophy"?
    A zulu religious item?
A voodoo doll (complete with pins) or perhaps an old voodo "clump" of clay, feathers and chicken blood to boot?
    Figurines from Papua New Guinea?
The cape of a templar knight from the age of crusades
A US flag (extreme patriotism is religous in its idolatory nature isn't it?)
And the list could go on, and on..................

i give up... i just give up
just dont respond to 'off topic' crap (which is clearly the case since this thread is not about 'ethics').

well since i like to please everbody...

    JEDI (star wars) = RELIGION
therefore it take no genius to realize star wars paraphernalia only becomes more sought after, captivating each new breed of generation... a classic to stay
cash on these infidels by buying selling rights to JEDI relgious stuff... such as LIGHT SABERS

LOL I have an ADULT neighbour who avidly collects this stuff. He stacks light sabers and the like, which he onsells for excellent mark ups on his original purchases.

But seriously, it goes without saying that stacking Religious "stuff" can't be done without at least some consideration of the ethics involved, so implicitly, this thread does need to take into account the ethics of it. If not, then whats stopping me from taking the bibles out of every motel room I ever stay in and then onselling them to the general public just before the end of this year (when according to popular rumour, the world is supposed to end)?
