    Hi SS,
Does anyone know if the Perth Mint has a registered trademark on the name "Lunar Series 2"?
I know there are plenty of different lunar series out there so suspect they couldn't be the only ones allowed to use it but not sure.
So if someone wanted to make a new Lunar Series 2 could they call it that.?
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Stackem

I got no answer for you.

However, Lunar series 2 name is too common to register a trade mark globally. It might be possible to Australia only

A quick search shows Perth Mint don't.
If they were to, they would only need to register Lunar Series anyway, they could put whatever they liked before and after. eg: Lunar Series 5, Limited Edition Lunar Series ...

Although they don't have the trademark, they could well argue they have created the public attention/perception/goodwill and attempt to cease others from using it were someone to profit from using the term in the class/es they operate, or at the very least stop anyone attempting to register the trademark for themselves.

    Cheers.
