Could be the opportunity of a lifetime - The rarest of the 1oz Silver Series. The question is, should I ? eBay:370550259713
Pretty cheap for a super rare panda, any ideas why? From the power of Google: http://china-mint.info/forum/index.php?topic=2125.0
Honestly astounds me that they are even thinking of selling these coins at this price. That said, they are totally legit seller. Don't think anyone sells more Pandas than they do !
I'd rather pay an extra $150 for a PF69 to be honest. http://www.ebay.com/itm/China-1996-1oz-Proof-Silver-Panda-Coin-NGC-PF-69-UC-/270775414731 They don't ship to Australia but I'm sure some legendary SS member such as comeaux (hint hint) would be happy to assist you provided you pay him for his services
Pardon my noob question... but why is it called Left Handed Panda, when the panda is using its right hand?
Ha I was waiting for that ! It's a kinda mirror image version without baby of the standard issue coin of the same year. Not really left handed is it !
This is the 1996 10 yuan 1oz proof silver Panda. Official mintage 8,000. It's the last year the proofs were minted in this form, correction, there are 97,98 and 99 coloured proof 1oz Pandas with mintages of 100,00 each... not the best investment, ok to collect them I guess, I'm not a big fan of coloured silver. This coin here is definitely a good investment, it's the lowest mintage of all the proofs and a pretty sweet design at that. If you're going to buy ungraded make sure it's sealed of course and make sure the seller accepts returns if you're unhappy with it... genuine sellers will accept returns. You don't want to be left with a paperweight.
[imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/2516_001.jpg][/imgz] Source: What a coincidence, just got this last week Came with the original coa - my investment coin for the future - hopefully. My 10cents worth, if you going to spend a lot of money on something like this, would pay to get a graded, conserved coin. I think it will make it easier to sell in the future.
I try to buy from this chinese in eBay. But after more than 1 month and half. I recall the money back. The item not go outside China. The seller say is a problem with the Mail Give me more time. I give the limit time in eBay. And when the time is over eBay return the paypal money without any problem. I think i have bad luck because he have a lot of fd positives.
I think this at least $10 worth !!! Ithought I replied so if this double post please forgive. This is very logical what you say I have done well buying OMP and getting my coins graded but what people do not recognize sometimes is how many coins that need to be submitted of a particular year coin to get a 69. As I have been trying to complete some of my 5 coin gold panda sets I have had to endure a substantial amount of pain maintaining them at all 69's and have quite a few submissions for some coins. In fact I just checked my NGC account this morning on gold pandas that I submitted only to see more pain. Many times I wish I would have just initially purchased the coin at MS69 and be done with it instead of having to submit 4 coins sometimes to get a 69 it happens I hate to sound contradictory but also remember though ... getting great condition OMP coins can be more economical so it is a case-by-case basis and depends on the individual. I may hear some backlash from others who have graded many coins as well but this has been my experience with Modern Chinese Coins in OMP (still sealed in original plastic). Mainly 68's & 69's with scattered 66's, 67's and the occasional 70 !!! So you can be optimistic in my opinion.
Thanks comeaux Only new to collecting coins, wanted to get just one really nice coin that would hopefully appreciate over the years. A big thanks to you, yennus, tamo42, badon and others here. I have spent many, many hours reading and hopefully learning a little bit. Got this coin off ebay from canada, free post (bonus!), cost me just over $700 but I think it is worth it - and if the shit does hit the fan and the price of pandas drops, then I am only exposed a little bit Hopefully my small collection will help my grandkids out in the future, be a while before they are old enough to appreciate it or find them useful.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1996-Chi...832?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415bce7f08 Slightly more expensive than AndyRoo68's and also has white spots near the 10 Yuan area.
Unlucky Thor, good that you got your money back, I like hearing positive between seller and buyer. It's a shame you never got the coin, keep trying, it's one to certainly consoder in my view... good investment
