Hi everyone. Though i would share this pic to see what you all thought. Some love toning others dont but i think this looks cool.
I dont wish to disclose online how and where i store silver but my storage container leaked/rusted and this was the result. Others that were wrapped in ziplock bags were fine, just a couple that werent were not fine. Cleaned one up with bicarb and foil and it cleaned right up good as new. Wont bother with cleaning the rest as im quite fond of the patina and know i can clean it off if i have to.
someone posted a video on here once about putting your silver in water and applying an electric current for x amount of time to get different colours from some sort of chemical reaction.
Copper from old pipes nearby/touching? Small electrical charge from natural environment perhaps (particularly if left for ages)?
In this case I dont mind because its relatively young bullion and very easy to make it shiny again. If it was old i would prefer it toned as it shows age and character, very easy to clean off decades of patina but not easy to put back on, hence I would pay more for an old bar thats heavily toned than the same bar thats been polished clean because I could easily do that.
