    The weather.

Gollan's preference is Ipswich R3. I've taken her at $2.30 which I think is overs. But, according to "The Final Gallop" he's still unsure of his decision, and he sent us a message saying he'll let us know of his decision. If she runs in Brisbane on Saturday she's not ready to beat La Palmier in the last at Eagle Farm according to Gollan.

I’m on my annual golf trip so I haven’t seen the race yet, mates are pretty happy though.

Maybe unexpected maybe not, her past couple of performances have been below par considering she’s rated at group standard previously.

I’ll have a look at the replay later tonight and post my thoughts

Pretty solid performance, she’s just very good out of the gates so the rest just have to run her down.

will be interesting to see how she goes up next.

Gold Coast race 8 Saturday on a Heavy 9 with more rain predicted before race day and drawn barrier 15. There’s not a planet in the universe where 21 runners start on a bog track so she won’t jump from 15 Ideally 3 - 7 would be nice but I don’t think we’ll get that close. Just don’t want to be on the fence in running coz it’ll be shit. Gollan has a good strike rate at the GC and Jim Byrne is back on board. I’m not putting any money on her until the field is known as deductions are going to make a mess of the odds. Biggest query will be whether she has the 1200m in her, track shouldn’t be a problem as long as she isn’t stuck in traffic and getting mud flung into her face. Ideally jump quickly, race in the 3rd lane or thereabouts and see how she goes. Watch thefinalgallop tomorrow on Vimeo for the trainer’s thoughts. This is her toughest race.

Got an update from Gollan, he confirmed my views, that she's the fastest horse in the field and will have no trouble getting through the ground. I'm hoping he's wrong with the distance query, I think she can see the final 100m out if she replicates her previous wins a couple of campaigns back

The Eureka Stud Classic has been tacked on to this Saturday's meet at Doomben, so it's a whopping 10 race card on a rain affected surface. They're supposed to be racing tomorrow there and the track is a Heavy 10, the rail is out 8m but that shouldn't affect Saturday's meeting too much.

Ok, pretty much the same noms as last time so the speed won't be much different, the rail is only out 2m. The general consensus is that Doomben favours leaders and on pace runners as it's a tight turning course, in the normal course of things inside runners also have an advantage, and the better going is closer to the fence in bad weather, but it could also get chopped up.

So, assuming the trainer's thoughts re the 1200m haven't changed, ideally we'd like to be drawn closer than the 15 she drew at the Gold Coast, 3 - 6 would be nice to give the jock the option to find the best ground, whether that on the rail or further out. She jumps and leads as they turn into the straight and has enough kick in her to beat off the challengers that are probably going to get closer to her as the line draws near, as long as they can get through the ground of course. They'll need to run faster than her in the final 200m because I think they'll be giving her a head start. She's had 4 starts at Doomben, won 3 and placed once. We should know the barriers tomorrow.
