That's kind of what I figured honestly. Thanks for the info. If you get enjoyment out of it and it's not breaking the bank, then it's worth it in my book. Not really any different to paying a subscription for something that you enjoy with the potential, but not guaranteed, plus of getting money back. And yes, I do think you should put the winnings in BTC. You will probably, ultimately, recoup all your costs that way.
Thanks for the update. Please let me know when she returns and I'd also be interested to know what's up with her currently if you ever find out. Based on recent form I thought she'd blow away the two that beat her home. Consequently I had 10x10 on a horse later in the day that I didn't look at the odds before the jump. It was paying $91 lol. It got up and ended up paying 69&14 or something like that. It was a good day over all.
Yep, Maloney certainly didn't ride her out, left me scratching my head until this post-race drama unfolded. I'll keep you updated as we hear of her progress.
From your comment in the trading thread it appears your Lyrical Girl is on the mend and ready to start training again. What was her problem after the first up start after a spell in February?
Chronic proximal suspensory ligament desmitis. Sore leg. I think she may have hurt herself when she jumped from the barriers at her last start on the Sunny Coast. When she was a filly something frightened her one night when she was in the spelling paddock and she ran through a few fences and got a nasty gash in her lower leg, she had to have surgery. Didn't cause her any issues in the campaign where she won four on-the-trot though but I'd say she hit it somehow in the barriers as it was her same leg. Vet assessed LG last week, there were no signs of any discomfort when she manipulated the leg and no visible signs of any problem when the mare was walked or on the trot so was given the all clear to go back to work again. Won't know for sure until she's back in training though so fingers crossed.
LG is now in pre-training, in about 4 weeks she'll be assessed again where the trainer will make a decision about whether to send her to his Eagle Farm Stables or not. She's currently at the Langbecker's Embrook Stables at Beaudesert where she's been spelling these past few months.
Lyrical Girl has been back in training at Eagle Farm after a lengthy spell. The trainer has said that he has "a lot of horse to work with", lol, must have some nice pasture around Beaudesert but he's also very happy with the amount of muscle she has. She's a had a few steady hit outs and he can't fault her form which is good as she was hanging in a bit from memory as a result of the injury last prep. She's scheduled for a jump out this coming Tuesday (which was earlier than I expected) and then she'll trial in a couple of weeks depending on how she goes on Tuesday. Racing Qld doesn't make jump out vision publicly available because we live in the Dark Ages here so once we get some vision back I'll report in. And in hardly related news, more just dreaming, RacingNSW has a new race scheduled for the Spring Carnival, just to piss off the Victorians. It's a $2million invitational creatively named The Invitation for F+Ms over 1400m. I think that's probably too far for our girl unfortunately, it has a tendency to be a specialist distance and I think our girl is an out and out sprinter, though both her grandsires Fastnet Rock and Not a Single Doubt have placed over 1400 in group company. https://www.punters.com.au/news/racing-nsw-announces-invitational-2m-race_199836/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Punters+Newsletter+July+16&utm_content=punters.com.au/news/racing-nsw-announces-invitational-2m-race_199836/&utm_source=comms.punters.com.au
For first up runs the trainer has targeted races up to 4 or 6 weeks out, once she’s into her campaign it’s been 10 - 14 days.
Just got a report from the trainer, she jumped well, was a bit keen to overrace, he said she was a bit fat, ridden quietly behind some others to finish 4th. She'll trial in 2 weeks, vision from that will be live.
