More bad news....But they still wont call a recession..... And not much has changed since Libs have been in either except bad news all around. http://www.skynews.com.au/topstories/article.aspx?id=922724
On behalf of everybody here I would like to say how impressed I am at how long you managed to last without a new thread and the fact that this one isn't identical to any that you've previously made. Good work mate haha Yep, unfortunately swapping one set of corrupt wankers for another hasn't ushered in a new era of prosperity.
Thanks Col, the Oz election and then the debt ceiling debate were hard for me because we all know how bad things are.....I was really hoping the Libs would change things for us......But now after a few months I see what some here were saying that nothing will change and they were right! This news about Quantas is more proof that people ar'nt spending money on discretionary things and they're tightening their belts......Wonder what the retail numbers will be like for Xmas?
Retail numbers will be OK for Christmas, a.25% drop in % rates will see to that... The G20 meeting in Brisbane may well decide that another spend and borrow at all costs is needed to fill SANTAS' SLEIGH. REGARDS ERROL 43
O.k so it is because the unions asking for too much again....I didn't see those articles in the news wrcmad..... Oh well all those workers asking for all those special penalty rates etc etc now have NO JOB at all......The unions have gone too far!
The AWU has been at war with QANTAS for years. This was bound to happen, and they, the AWU, deserve it! OC
I think as a society we need to get away from the entitlement mentality. People do not need brand new cars every few years, a 55 inch TV etc then at the other end you have large companies sending everything offshore to increase profit margins.
TheEnd I've mentioned before about me being a city exile in the seventies when the world was imploding there were riots in every city, (google 1968 riots), UK was on a 3 day week and USA was bombing Indochina into oblivion to support its war machine and profits. Then there was the Eighties when the riots quietened down (except for UK - "God bless the Queen The fascist regime") and greed and oblivion was the future. My point is that the big picture for small people like us doesn't matter one iota. All that matters is preparing for the worst and hoping for the best - both of which I've found give you a sense of security and optimism which is a lot better than the dire scenarios that the news headlines give those who think. So enjoy some music from the good old days: of course the members of the Sex Pistols moved on to other things Enjoy your toast!
Others have said it before. Patience. They haven't even had a single sitting day yet (still another week away). They can't actually enact or repeal legislation until parliament reconvenes (and even then it has to pass the Senate). In the meantime the Ministers can basically do minor tweaking to their departments etc (and they have actually been doing a fair bit of waste management).
Well its got me stoked....Every couple of weeks we are hearing of some company putting people off or changing locations..... Holden/Ford have already given proof that their bullshit buy a new car every five years industry is going down the drain... Maybe people just have big credit card limits?
Just look at the employees car park. Do the workers have faith in their product? I used to live near a Mitsubishi dealership and noted the lack of faith the actual workers had.
No Iphone No Ipad No gaming consoles 2006 car AWA cheap brand flatscreen No Bluray 10 year old laptop No debt Bought house outright with no mortgage No worries
You can have any car you want if you do this:
This was always going to happen. When they all tried to put QANTAS over a barrel forcing Allan Joyce to ground the fleet, their days were numbered. Thank you unions for showing your irrelevance in today's workforce. They do more harm than good. Employers that have had to deal with unions over the last 20 years are going to get their own back over the next 10.
