The customs declaration form only provides "Declaration of value of contents". I am sure you could argue with the customs bastards about how you don't really need to pay tax but that is far too troublesome for me to bother.
When NGC returns your coins, the declared value of the coins is what is used for insurance and declaration purposes when shipping, not the price paid for services.
you guys should call NGC or an NGC dealer there , these guys cant be paying GST on coins they are grading, most coin folks are helpful ,so I would think an NGC dealer in AU, would give you the lowdown.............. it is true When NGC returns your coins, the declared value of the coins is what is used for insurance and declaration purposes when shipping, not the price paid for services. BUT YOU SET THE VALUE, when you submit, so if you are willing to take a shot on the coins not being lost, you can put down $1 a coin on the submission form, NGC has umbrella type insurance ,they will only pay what you declare , of course if a shipment gets lost and you declare 1000.00 on a 50.00 coin on the submission form your not getting paid everyone knows how insurance co work
I emailed NGC a couple days ago... nil response .... I think I paid too much for my membership, considering it doesn't include conservation...
Says right on the membership benefits page where you sign up that NCS services aren't included in the 10% discount. Pretty sure it was mentioned by a couple other members that the Premium option is the best bang for the buck. I'm surprised you haven't gotten a response to your email though. I usually get one within 24 hours. Try contacting the rep below, she has been very helpful and quick. Lisa Berzins [email protected] NGC Customer Service
Yeah... i got caught out by the fine print Maybe if I only send 2010s, 2011s for grading I might get my money back... hopefully they don't require conservation. Email sent to Lisa... hopefully I'll get a good response soon
*ugh* ... I don't know how I'm going to make this membership worthwhile if I'm going to conserve each of my Pandas...
Maybe separate your collection into the coins that need/deserve conservation, and the ones that can get by with just grading. Send your clean gold and less deserving silver to NGC, and your high-value items to NCS.
ahaha... yeah... been thinking along those lines... Anyone interested in unconserved but graded 2011 or 2012 silver/gold Pandas?
I think you should leave Gold unconserved but not silver, especially if the coin is from more current years. But in the long run the cost of NCS will be negligible with MCC price growth imo.
JUST AS AN FYI.............. I just got off the phone with NGC ,pay no attention to the turnaround times on the website I sent 58 coins in on DEC 10 ,they are just being slabbed now, Sarah at NGC informed me about a 45 day wait for world modern ,just an FYI. that ,s without conservation
before the holiday I graded coins 18 days turnaround ,even those ASE,s 25th anniversary i sent a few 5 set boxes in and they where 20 days and they where flooded with them! just moaning
Welcome to the world of trying to get in touch with NGC/NCS if you don't live in the States. A phone call at 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning our time will catch them. I don't know how much such a call would cost.
Ngc wait time update: it appears NGC has caught up to their backlog I sent a batch of coins for grading (no conservation) world modern, 7 days ago, they have already been recieved by NGC ,and are scheduled for grading................... thats as fast as I ever have seen them , just as an fyi.................
Same here. Sent in 3 lots. 2 have just shipped back today, 1 is still only marked as "received" since 12/30. Not sure wth is going on with that one.
